Mixing Engineer with 20+ years of experience, focused on release-ready productions that translate reliably across systems and platforms.
My mixes are built on clear intent, balance, and impact — not on chance or generic presets. I make decisive sonic choices and aim for a consistent, recognizable sound that supports the song’s artistic direction.
Hip Hop is a foundational influence, particularly in terms of groove, low-end control, and energy. I also regularly work in Pop, Rock, and Metal, always prioritizing musical impact and translation over genre conventions.
I work in a structured, efficient manner with a high standard for sound, detail, and communication — regardless of production scale.
Available for a limited number of projects per month.

Interview with Nox Xash
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One project I’m especially proud of involved taking a song with strong potential but an unfocused rough mix and turning it into a cohesive, impactful record. My role was mixing, but also committing to a clear balance, energy, and direction that brought out the song’s strengths.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m currently mixing projects for clients, alongside selective work on my own music under a separate artist name.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. I’ve worked extensively on large analog consoles, but today I work mostly in the box. It allows me to achieve the same depth and musicality with faster turnaround, flexibility, and consistent results.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise clear communication, decisive choices, and a mix that serves the song and translates reliably.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Clients often ask if I can make a mix sound like a specific artist. That’s possible to a degree, but the source material has to support it. A mix enhances what’s there — it doesn’t replace performance, arrangement, or recording quality. My own sonic signature is always part of the result.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process starts with reviewing the client’s stems and references to understand the song’s intent. From there, I build the mix through clear, deliberate decisions, focusing on balance, impact, and translation. Revisions are handled efficiently with clear communication.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don’t actively collaborate with many providers on SoundBetter, but Ken Lewis is someone I’ve crossed paths with in the past and would recommend based on his work.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to apply my taste and musical judgment to help shape a song.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That mixing is about gear or loudness. In reality, it’s about decisions, balance, and serving the song.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask about the artistic vision, reference tracks, timeline, and any specific expectations for the mix, so we’re aligned before starting.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Choose someone whose taste and decision-making you trust. A good mix is not about options or gear, but about clear direction, communication, and serving the song.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Taste and ears first. Pro Tools as the main platform. Hardware-wise: an 1176 (Bluey), AD2055 EQ, Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor, a Neve 73, and an SSL Super 9000
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path has been shaped by over two decades of hands-on experience and constant refinement. I’ve been mixing professionally for more than 20 years, developing a clear approach through real-world projects and long-term practice.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is defined by a solid low end, powerful drums, and a clear, open top end, balanced with focused and present midrange.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d be interested in working with Dr. Dre and Eminem. Dr. Dre’s approach to sound and decision-making had a major influence on how I developed my mixing perspective. Eminem, because of the level of precision and impact required at the highest level of Hip Hop.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Make decisions early and commit to them. A clear direction will always translate better than endless options.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mainly work on Hip Hop, Pop, Rock, and Metal, often on projects that cross genre boundaries.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is listening beyond the mix. I approach each song with an A&R mindset, focusing on what serves the record and helps it reach its full potential.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring clarity, structure, and a distinct sonic perspective, helping the song translate across systems while maintaining its character and intent.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is designed for accurate monitoring and efficient workflow. The focus is on critical listening, consistency, and reliable translation rather than an extensive gear list.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m inspired less by specific names and more by strong production choices and decisive mixing. I pay attention to how records translate, how balance and energy are handled, and how clarity is maintained across different styles.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I primarily mix full songs across multiple genres, with a strong foundation in Hip Hop. Most projects involve balancing, shaping, and enhancing the existing production to achieve a clear, impactful mix that translates across systems.
