I provide live acoustic drums for your song. I record out of my studio here in Los Angeles. Typical turn around is in a few business days - your songs are my priority!

As an experienced international touring and session musician I've performed with Enrique Iglesias, Burna Boy, Tosin Aribisula (Fela Kuti), Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox on Deck, Michael Lee (The Voice Finalist), Pitbull, Jaron Marshall (The Black Pumas), Iris Kroes (The Voice Winner), Zoro (Prince, New Edition), Gregg Bisonette, Steve Smith (Journey), and Tje Austin (The Voice).

I record out of my studios here in Los Angeles California. The room is fine tuned to the acoustics of my drums and my mix is provided by sound engineer master Ross Rothero-Bourge (sound engineer for Vic Firth, Schecter Guitars, Cube Recording and Zildjian). I would love to hear about your project - contact me today!

Ben is an excellent drummer for both live and recorded gigs. I’ve worked with him as a singer in live settings and can say he is the most professional and good-spirited musician in the room!

Interview with Ben Pham

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: Chill, groovy

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: Tom Misch - Love his music!

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: If you want your song to GROOVE, don't quantize everything. The pocket and human feel is created by not having everything quantize all the time.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: I like working on challenging instrumental material to challenge myself. I always like to push the boundaries of my instrument so that when I play simple stuff, it looks and sounds easy and groovin.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: POCKET

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: I bring the energy, groove and pocket: The drums baby!

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: First I have the client describe to me exactly what they want and send me the tracks they want drums on. I like to get samples of what they want the drums to sound like, to get ideas. I then send an initial take and then from there, I can edit if there needs to be changes.

  15. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  16. A: My studio setup is Scarlett Focusrite 18i20, Logic Pro X, PDP Maple Drums, DW and Ludwig Snare Drums, Zildjian/Meinl/Bliss/UFIP Cymbals, Yamaha DTX. For Microphones I have Shure Beta 52 Kick, Shure SM57 Snare, AudioTechnica AT2035 Overheads

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: Some of my favorite musicians include: Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Bruno Mars, Tom Misch, MoonChild, Stevie Wonder, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding... and so much more!

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: I do mostly live acoustic drum tracking and programmed drumming for my clients. Songs vary by genre as I have done R+B, Pop, Funk, Soul, Jazz and Latin songs.
