Endorse DeeLouInterview with DeeLou
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Retro pop and indie rock.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Hybrid. I love analog but i also feel like there is too much hype around it. A lot of times digital processing might even sound better, since analog can make things a little muddy.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Beeing able to make an artists vision come to live feels amazing.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Exciting and alive.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Dont forget what music is really about when diving into production. Remember what made you fall in love with it, trust your vision and don’t get lost in the process.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I went from hiphop and trap to edm, then got into acoustic singer songwriter, bedroom pop, indie punk and classical piano. I never did any metal or orchestral stuff.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I will embrace whats already there. Every song is different and i want to keep it special. When everything is too clean and technically balanced, it might also mean sterile and boring.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I will listen to the rough mix, focus on the things that make the song great and imagine how the final mix would sound like. The biggest moves happen fast, then i spend time to go into detail.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We have tons of cool stuff. Whats really important is to be able to check my mixes on different great speakers by genelec, adam audio and yamaha and a subwoofer. For recording im a using slate, neumann or shure mics.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are too many to name. I’m always inspired by new things and thats what i love about music
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
