Amazing work! The delivery was very far ahead of schedule (took one day for the first run, and another day for corrections). I received a ton of files to comp the session myself, all of which had extremely consistent quality. He is also very receptive to feedback and additional requests within reason; definitely hire him for any future project you need!

Landser m'a fait parvenir un travail excellent, aussi bien au niveau vocal , qu'à la qualité de la prise de son.
Rapide et efficace, je le recommande vivement.

I have worked on four albums with Landser and his studio for a very known artist. He has handled production from A to Z: writing songs and/or providing new arrangements for covers, providing demos, playing and recording all instruments (Guitars, Percussions, piano, synth...) singing background, being the recording engineer and conducting the artist, mixing and mastering. Not only has he provided great work but he has been able to translate into music arrangements and catchy songs sketchy ideas of melody or arrangements I was, as a non musician, giving to him. Last, 100% reliable and amicable !

Merci !

I highly recommend the qualities of Landser. He is first of all a nice person who knows how to listen to the people he works for. He is then an excellent musician who masters with talent the guitar, the piano, singing and musical composition in all styles. He has become over time an outstanding sound engineer who is able to carry out a wide range of musical projects in his studio located in the heart of Paris. A professional at the service of quality without a doubt.

Interview with Landser

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I recently produced Amanda Lear's latest album, "Tuberose". I've played all instruments on it, arranged, mixed and mastered it. It was such a real pleasure to do it from A to Z, and recording Amanda's vocals was a thrill. She had to step out of her comfort zone for this one (I've produced three other albums for her in the last eight years) as the general feeling of the album had to be intimate, melancholic and calm, far from the catchy, disco songs she used to sing. I think she is happy with the result, as well as her producer, and the critics are pretty good !

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm currently working on some rock ballads for Universal Music Production France (vocals), and two albums for kids : One based on "Beatles" versions of classic Nursery Rhymes, and another based on Creole songs for children (mixing and additionnal recordings).

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Unfortunately no, as I'm new on the plateform, but I hope I will in the future !

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I would say digital, for the unlimited freedom of action. But when it comes to playing instruments, I always try to play real ones, instead of using virtual ones.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I may make mistakes, or misunderstand your needs, but I will always try with all my heart to fulfill your demand.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Getting up in the morning and immediately ask myself "What can I do today to be a better musician, a better performer and a better entrepreneur to help as many people as I can in their musical project".

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: "How much ?" !!! And my answer is : "Tell me about what you need first..."

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: People tend to think that artists only live in their artistic world, and that people who market their music only live in a business world. All those years in the music industry taught me that this isn't true. Especially today ! Every artist is and have to be an entrepreneur, and everyone in the music business has to have an artistic sense.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Any question that can get me close to understanding their needs. I like to know what kind of influences an artist have, what's his or her favourite singer or performer. When a client is contacting me, I immediately check his or her career path, it is so easy nowadays to do this. I strongly believe that starting a new musical collaboration is like starting a relationship : you have to spend all the time necessary to get to know the person in front of you and understand him or her.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Talk to me like I was your friend, and trust me.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: A guitar, a tambourine, an harmonica (I've always wanted to learn how to play that thing !), a pen and a notepad. And a boat ! LOL

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've always been making music. From ten to twenty, apart from going to school, I've been practicing my skills as a guitar player and singer. From twenty to thirty five, I've been trying to put myself on the market, live on stage or in recording studios. Then at thirty six, I eventually "settled down" in my own recording studio and tried to give my clients the best of my craft, while learning how to become a productive entrepreneur.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I can't help but adding a touch of "Rock'n Roll" in everything I do ! Even when it comes to making music for children, I rather use real guitars, real drums... Same for the singing sessions : I always try to make it sound like I was on stage. And in the mix, a little distortion never hurts !

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Since I was little, I've always secretly dreamed of working with Paul McCartney ! Can you imagine : more than 60 years making music and writing songs ? And still rocking ?? What better inspiration can you wish for...

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Even if it's eventually produced with dozens of instruments, a great song can be played with only a guitar or piano. It is when you play and sing it like you were sitting around a campfire with some friends that you can figure out what arrangements to add, or the right way to sing it in the vocal booth.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Mainly Pop music.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: A great sens of rythm and groove, probably from playing the drums at an early age !

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Decades of experience in singing and playing music give me the confidence and skills to add a professional touch to the songs I work on.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Depending on the job, I usually get comfortable with the song by playing and singing it "live" with a guitar or a piano. I then try to find the right BPM, and play all instruments (if needed) before recording the lead vocals, then the background vocals, and mix the whole piece.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work with Protools, use Neumann microphone (mainly), Waves and Universal Audio Plugins, Roland keyboards and E-Drums kit, Taylor, Fender and Gretsch guitars ans basse.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Every skilled singer or musician who sings or plays with his heart and soul !

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: My clients come to me with either a demo or a full produced song, and ask me to sing or play one or several instruments on it. Sometimes it's just an idea or a melody, then my job is to arrange and record a full song and mix it.
