Interview with Steven Iliadis
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Recently there was a local show where local bands paid tribute to famous bands such as Green Day. Fall Out Boy etc. so i was auditioned for the rythm guitarist for the My Chemical Romance tribute band. When we started the rehearsals i realized that the lead guitarist changed some parts that he couldn't play, so i suggested since i knew most of the songs i should play the solos everyone aggred with my suggestion and in the end i played at that show as a lead guitarist.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I was inspired by a lot of musicians and music genres. Some of them are My chemical Romance, the GazettE, Twenty One Pilots, Luna sea, Cinder Road, Daft Punk, Halsey, Beatles, Guns n Roses,Against the Current, coldrain, VAMPS, L'Arc-en-Ciel,Yngwie Malmsteen etc.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work that i do for my clients is to provide them close to their preferences the best sound, songs and lyrics that they want.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I just finished my demo tape and i'm looking for new to bands to join and participate.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise and my obligation to my clients is to create a sound that's closer to their needs and preferences.Music is very clear but it's also very subjective so it's important to create a sound that we can all be proud of.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The thing that i like the most about this job is the creation. How you try to incorporate your emotions into songs and to create something beautiful and meaningful from zero.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing this for 14 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as diverse and experimental, i think each music style has something different to offer, so you can benefit a lot from that and at the same time you can experiment with this diversification of different sounds to create something unique.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: If i had the chance, i would have wanted to work with Gerard way. Gerard Way right now is a solo artist but he was also the lead singer of My chemical Romance a band that was a huge influence on me. Gerard Way has this great imagination that almost all of his albums are concept records and each record tells a different story as a result each album becomes a whole new world to experience and explore musically and visually.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mostly play pop, rock, hard rock, heavy rock and punk rock songs. However i also play various music genres such as jazz, blues etc.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my guitar playing.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: When it comes to the song i tried to bring genuineness, melodiousness, preciseness and innovation. When i was growning up, melodic heavy bands were a huge influence on me so i try to bring that to the songs that i write plus with the competion within the music industry innovetion is also a huge factor to the song writing process.
