Interview with Linn Kristin

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Lyrics, Melodies, Vocals, Spoken Words & Toplines with harmonies and multiple vocal tracks.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am really proud of my solo project, getting onto New Music Friday Norway has been a dream for a long time and finally it happened during my last release! Slowly but surely we move forward, continuity is key :)!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment my own solo project LINN KRISTIN.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Elsa Søllesvik, great topliner & singer!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! But personally I'd prefer digital, easy and quick way to work!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To do my absolute best!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That I can work from anywhere and the community!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What my price is, but this really depends on the amount of work that needs to be done.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That if I'm an artist on Spotify I must be a signed artist living off my music 100%.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: If they have a deadline, what feeling they want the vocals/topline to be. Is there a reference track/topline that is similar to the vibe you'd want. And etc.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Drop me a message and will figure out how I can be of service!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My bikini, sunscreen, macbook, studio gear and a good book.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started writing songs at the age of 13, went on to starr in different musicals, was part of Voice Of Joy gospel choir Studied songwriting & production in Liverpool, continued in Oslo where i formed my band started writing with some of Oslos best producers and songwriters. Participated in several writing camps, starred in All Together Now Norway and The Voice Norway 2021 and am now moving into a more house/club type of sound!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Versatile! I do A LOT of different genres, as country, pop, indie, edm, house, club. But my own solo project is currently deep house pop edm vibe!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Becky Hill because I'd really love to see how she works!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Reverb is a must for me! And don't overthink.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, House, Deep House, EDM and Club.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Vocals, Melodies and Lyrics!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: What I always try to do is to catch the right feeling for the song. I believe having the right feeling and perception of the lyrics and the sound of the song is crucial for a good result as well as vocal technique.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When writing I am always starting out with a melody on top of the instrumental or while the producer creates the track in the studio, I'm very into production and if possible in a session I try to help out with ideas, then put down the rest of the lyrics and record the demo.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My home setup is Logic Pro X, TLM Neumann 102, Scarlett2i2 but I have access to multiple studios if you need a higher quality recording.

A: Becky Hill, Matoma, Armin Van Buuren, Max Martin, Rhodes, Léon and Carrie Underwood.
