You want to maximize the impact of your music on every listener in every environment and I'm here to help you do just that. As a producer I will work with you to unlock the full potential of your ideas. As a mixer I will ensure your sonic vision translates fully and vibrantly no matter where it's heard. As a writer I am all about collaboration.
My priority is always to serve the song and the sonic vision of the artist and their collaborative team.
I have worn numerous hats throughout my musical journey but my primary focus right now is on mixing, production and writing, in that order.
As a mixer I have worked on major label & indie label projects (Sony/Another Century, Rise Records, Anchor 84 Records) with bands such as Grayscale, The Haxans (featuring members of Rob Zombie and New Year's Day), Transit, heavy on the heart., Piggy/Count D (of Rob Zombie fame) and others.
I am a bit more selective about the projects I produce but always on the lookout for exciting projects.
In addition to my own work as a mixer/producer, I also have extensive editing & mix prep experience, working with a number of producers and engineers including Bryan Cook, Adrian Bradford, Kurt Ballou, Jay Maas and others. My work in this capacity has appeared on recordings by Letters To Cleo, Four Year Strong, Transit, Jeremy Renner and others. If you are a fellow mix engineer or producer who needs someone they can trust to do the more tedious and detailed editing and prep work, I can do that at a very reasonable rate.
I am also an award winning songwriter and a recent collaboration, the song "Somewhere Out There", performed by Sicily Rose & Joey Fleming (In Her Own Words) has reached over 430k streams on Spotify in less than a year.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Endorse Phil DubnickPhil's mixes are exciting, clean, and professional. He is very detail-oriented, and is relentless in his pursuit of making every record sound amazing. Phil also has a wonderful sense of humor, he has the perfect temperament for a job as exacting as this one. He's also a terrific guitarist and musician, and if you need suggestions on how to push your song in any direction, Phil is full of great ideas.
Phil’s that unique combination of knowledge, skill, smarts and style. His ability to realistically create entire instrumental parts with soul is nothing short of remarkable. He keeps an open mind and listens critical, and without criticism. He is supportive, encouraging, and offers ideas if/when needed. Very highly recommended.
Phil has that great blend of technical know how balanced with musical knowledge. He has the more scientific skills to do whatever he wants but what sets him apart is that he really maximizes the musicality of everything because he knows and can hear the difference. He cares deeply about everything he does and I highly recommend him for any service he offers.
Interview with Phil Dubnick
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: In terms of mixing & mastering, I will generally try to really nail down the overall vibe in the first pass and then work with the client during the mix notes process to make sure that the end product meets or exceeds their expectations for the material at hand. Where writing and production is concerned I really enjoy the collaborative process and always look to serve the song and the vision of my collaborators.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work entirely in the box as far as mixing and mastering goes. When I produce artists we will typically work from my studio for general production stuff, vocals, overdubs, etc. Being in Nashville, if the production requires live basics, drum tracking, etc there are a plethora of amazing studios in the area.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by so many different musicians, producers and mixers that it's hard to narrow to just a handful. As corny as it may seem, for me, anyone who embarks on the path of creating and sharing the gift of music with others is an inspiration.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My primary focus is mixing and mastering at the moment, but I have also dipping my toe back into producing and writing waters as of late. I also enjoy being a utility player, so if someone needs a session prepped or some editing done, I am happy to oblige!
