Axel Delabuela

Producer & Mix/Master Engineer

Axel Delabuela on SoundBetter

Experienced producer & sound engineer crafting authentic beats and mixes with personality and precision — no presets, just true collaboration.

I'm a music producer and sound engineer from Argentina. I started making beats at 16 and never stopped. Now, at 32, I work from my studio "Delabuela," recording, mixing, mastering, and producing artists who want something with identity.

I studied in Buenos Aires, lived in Barcelona, and had the luck to learn from people like Álmicar Gilabert. I have over 300 released tracks with verified credits on Muso.AI, but beyond the numbers, what really matters to me is contributing what I feel is best for each song.

I work with artists across genres — rap, trap, reggaetón, indie, fusion — always aiming for clean sound with identity and strength. I believe that from Argentina we approach music differently: less formula, more feeling.

If you're looking for a producer or engineer whose choices come from listening, who won't just throw presets at you, and who will work with you to bring out the best in your music, I'm here.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Interview with Axel Delabuela

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’ve worked on songs with Orion XL, a rapper from La Plata, Argentina, whose music I listened to when I was younger. I’ve also produced tracks with Núcleo aka Tinta Sucia and El Frane. One special memory is recording a song with Tyk, which was never released, but the creative process was unforgettable. In all these projects, I was in charge of production, recording, mixing, and mastering.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I work with three regular artists per day from Monday to Friday, covering different genres, and I also collaborate remotely with a few artists from other locations.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes, I collaborate with a friend in the U.S. who’s a great musician and producer, and I’d recommend him for certain projects.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both. I love the warmth of analog and the precision and flexibility of digital.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: To treat every project as if it were my own music.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Helping artists turn their ideas into a song they’re proud of.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Many ask, “How fast can you finish it?” My answer is: as fast as possible without compromising quality.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That mixing and mastering can “fix” a bad recording. A great final product starts with a great performance and recording.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I ask about their musical references, the message they want to deliver, and what feeling they want the listener to have.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Look for someone who listens first. The best results come from understanding your vision before touching the technical side.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: My Oktava mk012 mic, SSL interface, MacBook, Yamaha HS monitors, and Studio One with my favorite plugins.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been producing, mixing, and mastering since I was 16, working with artists in Argentina and abroad. Over the years, I’ve built a portfolio of more than 300 songs with official credits

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is about adapting a raw, rap-oriented sound to different genres, adding clarity and aggression when needed, or emotion and highlighting the main energy of the song and its genre.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I’d love to work with Duki because he pushes the boundaries of Argentine trap and keeps evolving his sound.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Focus on the emotion first—if it feels right, the technical side will follow.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I mainly work on rap, trap, and urban music, but I also produce pop afropop neosoul and R&B.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Turning an artist’s idea into a professional sound that connects with listeners.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring balance, energy, and detail while keeping the artist’s style at the center of the track.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start by talking with the artist to get to know them and understand their vision. This makes the collaboration more accurate and personal. Then I create or adapt the instrumental, record clean and expressive takes, and finish with detailed mixing and mastering.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My studio is equipped with high-quality microphones such as the Rode NT1000, Oktava MK012, and Shure models, plus professional monitoring and acoustic treatment. I use SSL and Audient audio interfaces, a MacBook and a Windows PC for flexibility, and monitor with Yamaha HS 6.5" and first-generation Mackie MR5 speakers. I work mainly in Studio One with a wide range of industry-standard plugins.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by producers like Mike Dean, Mix by Ali and Nicolás Del Porcel for their ability to bring depth and emotion into modern music, as well as by artists in the Argentine trap and rap scene.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I mostly work on mixing, mastering, and creating custom instrumentals. I also record and produce complete tracks for artists, guiding them through the creative process from start to finish.
