Interview with Kjell
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I really like sampling in all ways you can imagine. Whether I record the traffic of my hometown or my piano with a crappy microphone to get a dusty and vinyl sound the way of working with samples is so easy and so brilliant that I don't want to miss it anymore. Since there are great softwares like splice and co it makes it so much easier for me to find the right HiHat Sample (for example) that lifts my track up a lot.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My main daw is Ableton Live 11 on a M1 Mac Pro. I also use Cubase Pro 11 and NI Maschine 2 for some projects. I have JBL Professional Monitors, but I change to a lot of other devices like Mac/I phone speakers, Air Pods or my Sonos system, when it comes to mixing or mastering, to get a bride overview of the sound of a track on different speakers and in different locations. My Instruments are a bass from Ibanez, a Fender Stratocaster(MiJ) and a Grotrian Steinweg Piano.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I do a lot of beat making with different genre, styles and vibes - especially hip/hop, jazz and chill type beats. Nevertheless one big part of my work goes into mixing and mastering lofi, rap and (a little) pop music.
