Interview with Danzel

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Both. Analog has unique characters that cannot be replicated along their Digital counterpart. At the same time, the digital comes with characters of their own. Out there, we have a wide variety of digital plugins that are very good at performing their intended purpose.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Mix & Master: i like when the finished product is ready and i get to play it over and over in my head just like with all the other amazing songs i listen to. that's because the product is within the same dimension of quality as those very song. Songwriter/Producer: i like when a song is complete with the vocals added on and creates a whole new universe. The production accompanies the vocals and brings it into an entirely different milky way.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: Being a Songwriter/Composer/Music Producer and also audio engineer(mix & master). it has been about 10 years now since i began from square one.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: I would say that my style goes into the realm of creativity where i can bring in elements from different genres or unexpected. Maybe its because of my country's music that ive done. And now that i'm a primarily working in the asian music industry, i've continued on with that mindset as k-pop for one, is a mixing pot of music.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: music has a set of rules but, those rule are not mandatory. the moment you get out of that comfort zone, the box, you create magic.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: I work on alot of asian music: Kpop, Jpop, Cpop.

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: Music production Mixing & Mastering

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: Production: i would usually look for a gimmick, a melody that i want to drive on, and go on to fit a rhythm around it which then bring a sense of direction to me. Mixing/Mastering: I would listen to a set of music that i consider some of the best sounding. using this to set and adjust my ears, they will later become my reference. From there, i go into the project at hand, i love to tackle the vocals first as the track sound fit around the vocals, once the mix is done, i go into the mastering where i polish a pre-mastered mix that already sound like a mastered product.

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: Songwriting/Music production Mixing & Mastering
