Interview with Aizu
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One of my proudest projects is “Left Me Here” a track where I wrote, sang, and produced everything myself. It gained great traction online and really defined the emotional signature I want Aizu to be known for.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m currently wrapping up a new set of songs under Aizu to release them under Selected or any other favorite deep house label of mine.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not yet personally, but I’m always open to collaborations and discovering new talent through the platform.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital for speed, precision, and flexibility. I believe emotion comes from intention, not necessarily the gear.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You’ll get authenticity, quality, and care. I treat every song like it's part of my own project.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The freedom to turn emotions into sound. There’s nothing more rewarding than hearing someone connect with your track on a personal level.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They ask, “Can you make it sound radio-ready?” My answer: absolutely I mix and master with a commercial standard in mind, always.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That electronic music is “easy” to make. A three-minute song often takes dozens of hours of writing, producing, mixing, and refining.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask what feeling they want to evoke, what references they love, and what the purpose of the song is (sync, release, personal, etc.). That guides my entire process.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Find someone who listens. A great collaborator will understand your emotional and sonic goals not just follow a template.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Ableton Live - FL Studio with a Focusrite interface, monitors, a SE 49 keyboard, and a SM7B for vocals.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a singer-songwriter in high school, transitioned into production during college, and eventually created Aizu to fully explore my vision. I’ve been producing and singing for over 6 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Emotional, melodic, and cinematic deep house with a vocal edge. Think late-night vibes with meaning.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d love to work with AVAION. His ability to make ambient textures feel alive in a club setting is something I admire deeply. I think our styles could blend beautifully.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don’t rush the drop. Build emotional tension early through dynamics and subtle layering it makes the payoff much more satisfying.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mainly deep house, melodic techno, and chill electronic. But I’ve also worked on alt-pop and cinematic ambient projects with vocal-forward direction.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ability to blend powerful toplines with polished, cinematic deep house production. I do both so there’s never a disconnect between vocal and instrumental.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring heart. Whether it’s a soaring hook or a soft drop, I focus on making people feel something. I’m not afraid to be vulnerable or melodic in a genre that often leans heavily on rhythm alone.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It starts with a concept or emotion, I write lyrics and melodies first, then build the instrumental around the vibe. I handle all production, vocal tracking, and mixing myself, ensuring cohesion from start to finish.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I produce out of a compact home studio in Miami. I use Ableton Live - FL Studio with a Focusrite interface, monitors, a SE 49 keyboard, and a SM7B for vocals. Everything is optimized for vocal clarity and dynamic mixing.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m heavily inspired by artists like Elderbrook, Yuma, Ben Böhmer, and Avaion—creators who blur the line between singer-songwriter intimacy and electronic euphoria.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in full song production and vocal performance within the deep house and melodic electronic space. Most clients come to me for my ability to craft immersive soundscapes that blend emotional vocals with clean, dance-ready production.
