- Stem Mixing
- Stem Mixing & Mastering
- Vocal Tuning and Processing
+++++
We provide, what we like to think of as, a creative stem mixing service. By this we mean that, if necessary, we do much more than simply balancing the levels and EQ’ing each individual stem. We are not averse to replacing sounds if we believe we can find a more appropriate one.
We encourage a dialogue with our clients so that they can help us to help them. We always ask our clients to send us a pre-master of their mix so that we can identify any problem areas prior to the session. Vast improvements to the mix can be achieved with 4 or 5 stems and an hour or so of studio time. The result is far superior to anything that could be achieved with normal stereo mastering.
Additionally, if budget allows, we can go into much more detail and offer what is more akin to a full mix down service. A typical stem mix can take anywhere between 1 – 4 hours depending on the number of stems, the quality of the initial mix and whether any additional production is required (swapping out drum sounds / re-editing sections / adding additional sound effects etc.)

Endorse Twin LeeInterview with Twin Lee
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure your songs/production are good. No amount of mixing can make a bad song a good one. As a friend used to famously quote "you can't shine shit" haha
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Logic Pro X, API 2500, my speakers, converters and my Laptop.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Here's 3: 1 - "over"-brightening followed by a high frequency limiter can really help add air to a track without making it harsh. 2 - Avoid using phase based stereo processors, while there's a time and place for everything, you'll get a wider/cleaner stereo image through discrete panning. 3 - Fight the urge to make everything brighter and punchier, give everything it's own space (both spectrally and stereoscopic) and make the supporting elements do just that.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly Dance/Electronic kind of stuff, but we work on a bunch of other genres from Pop to Singer/Songwriter stuff :)
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Definitely our ears!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As cheesy as it sounds we think we bring the song to the song. we try to find the core of the music and make sure it's presented in the best light. Often it's the vocal, sometimes it's the beat, but we think my strongest asset is my ability to do what the song needs. Whether it's a bright polished pop mix, a lo-fi indie mix, or a clean acoustic song. Clients most often tend to compliment my vocal sound, and we do tend to build a mix around a vocal.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Mixing: After we receive files I import everything into Logic Pro X, and get a pretty decent rough mix happening. Then we confirm with the client that we're either good to go, or there's something missing or that needs to be fixed. we then put the mix on my schedule and either send it the day we mix it, or sometimes give it a night to finish with fresh ears. we then shoot this first pass to clients, and then if they have notes we recall and address as needed. Turn around depends on my calendar, and the scope of project but is usually around 3-4 days to finish. Mastering: we generally listen to the song outside of the DAW, making sure it sounds like a decent mix, and that there's no technical issues. Once we've confirmed everything is good to go, we schedule it in and hit it usually within a few days.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Currently, we're based in Sigala's second studio which is a fully treated room with ADAM A77Xs. We do use some outboard gear from time to time, but we find plugins sound so close to the real thing and they're just much more accessible.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: We're massive fans of all dance music! EDM heads like Skrillex, Flume and Martin Garrix really got us into making dance music. But we really appreciate all forms of Pop/Dance music when the song is great.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: We're primarily songwriters and producers first, but we also mix and master all the tracks we write/produce, as well as for a bunch of other artists too!
