Nick Corcillo - Blush Studios

Producer/Writer and Engineer

Nick Corcillo - Blush Studios on SoundBetter

Hey all! My name is Nick, and I'm a songwriter, producer, recording engineer, and mixing engineer based in Palm Beach County, Florida. I write songs, record artists and bands, and mix all types of music! I'm 21 years old, so I'm in tune with how modern records are supposed to sound. Let's work! I'm also in Tracheotomy and Bloodbather.

I offer multiple services that could be valuable to you as a client! If any of my services stick out to you, feel free to email me at nicholascorcillo@gmail.com!

Songwriting: I can write songs for you in any capacity. Lyrics, vocal melodies, verses, choruses, breakdowns, bridges, structuring - you name it. We can collaborate, or I can do it all myself.

Music Production, Beatmaking, and Instrument Tracking: I can track many different instruments for you, whether they be live or virtual - I also make beats all the time (if you want an example, go listen to Don't Go Outside by Poorstacy!) I have extensive experience in sound design, including synthesis, drum production, bass, guitar, sitar, and more! With this, I can write and/or track your entire song entirely by myself if requested, or we can do it together!

Mixing Services: I am a mix engineer as well! I typically mix heavier music, as well as trap, cloud rap, hyperpop, and more. While there has yet to be a genre I have found myself uncomfortable mixing, these are definitely my specialties!

Mastering: While I am not specifically working out of a mastering studio at the moment, I still possess the necessary tools and skills to properly master your song for professional playback! My masters are often loud, punchy, and present. I offer discounts if you choose to both mix and master with me!

Interview with Nick Corcillo - Blush Studios

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The Tracheotomy stuff - I'm in the band and do a lot of the music, but I tracked all the guitars and bass. I'm really happy with how that one came out.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: More Tracheotomy stuff, some Bloodbather, and some other cool projects that I'm excited to get out there!

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: Assuming my PC doesn't count, I'd take my Jazzmaster, my drum library, my MIDI basses (invaluable tools) my ML-1 microphone, and my Slate Digital Virtual Mix Rack.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I'm 21. I work in an office when I'm needed to get extra money for plugins but music is my main source of income and I've been at it for 9 years. I started playing guitar at 11 and working in DAWs when I was 16.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Never ignore your low frequencies. Life's too short for a lame mix.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: CLA, Salem Vex, Sam Pura, and more!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: A lot of them ask how business is going. The answer is boomin'. Some of them ask how hard it is or how long it took to learn everything - the answer is 9 years. A lot of them ask why I shave my head. The answer to that is that I bleached my hair and tied it back so many times that it's going to look awful if I grow it out again anytime soon!

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: Literally anything that's brought in to me, but in my own time: deathcore, metalcore, post-punk/new wave, hyperpop, cloud rap, trap, drill, rock, etc. If you want the Travis Barker sound that's been popular lately, just know I've been doing that for a long time!

  17. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  18. A: Not yet!

  19. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  20. A: All depends on the item. Drums? Samples, most of the time (it's situational, IMO.) Bass guitar? 50/50. Guitar? ALWAYS analog/real. Synths, EQs, compressors, processing units, etc? 50/50. I do love my Slate Digital gear, though.

  21. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  22. A: That they will leave the session/project feeling like they got 100% out of our time together.

  23. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  24. A: Just the fact that I can help people bring their dreams to life. I love to help!

  25. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  26. A: That anyone can do it. I've heard a lot of awful mixes and bad beats in my time doing this. You have to actually put the time in to learn how this all works!

  27. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  28. A: Depends on the task at hand, but I guess my universal question is what their vision is for whatever we're working on together. Is the song getting pitched to a label? Is it your first time in a studio situation? etc.

  29. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  30. A: Make sure you talk to whoever it is you're hiring first. If your taste in comedy and music doesn't match up, it probably won't work out.

  31. Q: How would you describe your style?

  32. A: I can answer this two ways, I guess. I either wear sweatpants and a t-shirt or I actually show out, depends on the move. If we're talking musically, though, I tend to either make very aggressive or very emotional music, but we can do whatever you want. That's what I'm here for, and I love to work/experiment with new clients.

  33. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  34. A: I would kill to work with Robert Smith. I don't even care in which capacity.

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  36. A: Writing and structuring arrangements. No doubt. Need a catchy part, or a lead to go over that chorus? I got it on lock. Guaranteed.

  37. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  38. A: Attitude, aggression, and a healthy amount of alliteration, apparently. If you want metal! If you're here for trap, hyperpop, or anything else, just know that pretty much all I do is listen to/make music and play World of Warcraft. So I have plenty of time and energy to devote to your songs! Haha.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: All depends on the task at hand. I approach my mixes based on genre, and for production I like to get to know my client before we work so we can actually figure out something sick - that way we can both be happy with the final result.

  41. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  42. A: I own Blush Studios in Palm Beach County, FL. It's a fully, professionally treated room, complete with an equally-proofed vocal room. I record any instrument that's brought in to me! Check out the video on the @blushstudiosfl Instagram account to see what's up with it.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Songwriting, Production, Programming Instruments, Recording, Mixing, and Mastering.
