Becky Mathai on SoundBetter

As an assistant engineer, tracking engineer, mixer, producer and A&R, I have experience both working in the studio with artists and also developing the marketing and promotion of their work. I am passionate about representation and I make sure that every project I work on is done well and in a timely manner.

Becky Mathai is both a creative building her own brand as well as the Chief A&R Officer at Outer Voice Records, a new South Asian American record label launched in partnership with Converse. She is responsible for leading the recruitment and development of the label’s roster. A Philly native, Becky started her journey interning at Philadelphia’s renowned Milkboy the Studio, where she studied under the city’s top engineers and producers. During her time at Temple University, she co-founded the Temple Music Business Club to foster programming that supported students entering an incredibly difficult industry. She also interned with C.R.E.W.7, an artist development team based in Philly, led by her close mentor Grammy-nominated producer Dan “Dilemma” Thomas and she still continues to work with them. As an engineer and producer herself, she has worked with indie artists in her city and continues to expand her credit list. As an A&R, Becky hopes to find the best talent in her community and create a space for more underrepresented artists, producers, and engineers to share their stories. She also has a strong interest in working in music coordination + supervision. Becky has a bachelor’s degree in media studies and production from Temple University.
