Interview with Caleb DuPre (CDUPR3)
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: "Lady Love" is a project close to my heart, blending an instrumental soundtrack with a short film. I’m honored to have the legendary Gordy family—who discovered Michael Jackson—acting and narrating to showcase his influence on music, leading into the modern sounds of artists like The Weeknd. This project bridges past and present, while reflecting my personal journey as an artist. It’s about leaving everything on the floor and creating an emotional, nostalgic experience for listeners, honoring the legends who came before me while pushing music into new spaces. I'm excited for everyone to experience it!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Recently, I've been invited to work on more film and sync projects for programs like National Geographic, as well as a movie currently being pitched to Sony. While these experiences are still in the early stages, I’m hopeful they will lead to valuable opportunities in the future.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: When working with me on music production, I promise you a deeply collaborative and personalized experience. I’m committed to bringing your vision to life with passion and dedication, while always ensuring that the final product reflects your unique sound and message. Expect creativity, attention to detail, and a focus on quality throughout the process. I’ll work closely with you to craft something that stands out, resonates with your audience, and captures the essence of what you're trying to express. You’ll have my full support, and together, we’ll make something exceptional.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I love most about being a music artist and producer is the ability to bring emotions to life through sound. It’s fulfilling to create music that connects with people on a deeper level. As a producer, I enjoy shaping a track from scratch and finding that perfect blend of sounds. It’s all about creating an authentic, meaningful experience for both myself and the listeners, and that constant creative journey is what fuels my passion.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: -What is your process for creating music from start to finish? I start by understanding your vision, then create a rough concept and build from there, collaborating closely with you at every step to ensure the final product matches your goals. -Can you help me refine my sound and style, or do you prefer to work with specific genres? I love helping artists refine their unique sound, and I’m open to working across genres, blending different styles to create something fresh and personal. -How involved can I be during the production process? Will I have input on the direction and final product? You’ll have as much input as you’d like! I encourage feedback throughout the process to ensure the final product reflects your vision. -What do you need from me to get started on a project? I’ll need your vision, any inspiration or references, and any existing material like lyrics or demos to get started. -How do you handle revisions or changes to the music once it’s in progress? Revisions are part of the process, and I’m happy to make changes until you’re 100% happy with the result. -Do you offer mixing and mastering services in addition to production? Yes, I offer both mixing and mastering to ensure the final track sounds polished and ready for release. -How long does it typically take to complete a song or project? A single track can take a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on the complexity. Larger projects may take longer, but I’ll always give you a timeline upfront. -Can you work with pre-recorded vocals or other elements I’ve already created? Yes, I can work with any pre-recorded vocals or material you’ve created and integrate them into the production. -What’s your approach to collaborating with other artists or musicians during production? I’m open to collaborating with other artists and musicians, ensuring their contributions fit seamlessly with the overall vision. -What’s your pricing structure, and do you offer any packages or custom options for different project needs? My pricing is flexible and based on the project’s scope. I offer custom quotes and packages to fit different needs and budgets. -How do you ensure the music is unique and stands out from what’s already out there? I focus on creating authentic, boundary-pushing music tailored to your unique sound, ensuring it stands out in the industry. -What experience do you have working with different types of clients (e.g., independent artists, labels, brands)? I’ve worked with independent artists, labels, and brands, adapting to each client’s needs while maintaining a high level of professionalism and creativity.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What story or emotion do you want your music to convey to your audience? What’s your ultimate goal for this project—are you looking for commercial success, creative fulfillment, or something else? Are there any particular sounds, instruments, or genres you want to experiment with or explore in this project?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been in music since I was 9, starting with drumming, which really taught me the foundations of rhythm and how to feel the groove. At 26, I made the leap into music production, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Now, with years of experience under my belt, I’m still deeply involved in the industry, constantly learning, experimenting, and pushing my creative boundaries. Music is my passion, and I’m all about bringing fresh, exciting sounds to life while staying true to what makes each project unique.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My sound is influenced by legends like Michael Jackson, The Weeknd, Hans Zimmer, and Drake, but I always strive to make it uniquely mine. I pull from MJ’s boundary-pushing energy, The Weeknd’s atmospheric vibes, Zimmer’s cinematic scale, and Drake’s emotional depth to create something fresh and unforgettable. My music feels like it could be the soundtrack to a story—full of sweeping melodies, high-energy moments, and deep emotion. It’s cinematic in nature, but with my own twist that makes it stand out. Each track is crafted to resonate, tell a story, and leave a lasting impact.

My music is cinematic, with sweeping melodies and dynamic shifts that feel like they’re part of a larger story. What excites me most is working with artists like The Weeknd, Hans Zimmer, Finneas, and Billie Eilish—because of the complexity in their sounds that makes them true artists. Their ability to blend innovative production with raw emotion is something I really admire and would love to collaborate on. That’s the kind of music I want to create—complex, multi-layered, and always pushing boundaries.
