Interview with Will Cook - Record Producer
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I currently freelance out of Crooked Rain Recording Studio in Leeds - this is where I do all my tracking. It's home to great live and controls rooms, and houses a tonne of great guitar amps, snare drums, drum kits, pre amps and microphones.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love Kurt Ballou - his work inspires me so much. I love how he can make stuff sound insanely heavy but super natural at the same time.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My work usually involved me recording, mixing and mastering client's work. Depending on the budget of the project the record will sometimes be spent to another engineer for mastering. I've recently been taking on more mixing/mastering jobs, it's been loads of fun!

For a typical band consisting of drums, bass, guitar and vocals, I usually recommend booking one day of tracking per song. For mixing, I recommend one day/half a day per song.
