Interview with Profile User 430889

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Both of course!! That's why I use IRs and not real cabins, but I use analog pedals and amps and not modellers or VST amp simulations. The best of both worlds!!

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: Do you have a fixed riff, melody and comping style for me to play, or should I use my own perception as to what would be the best for the guitars on your song?

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: Most types of rock music, all types of blues of course, since it's my main genre, but I've recorded metal, punk and some experimental stuff as well and really enjoyed the outcome and the process.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: I use Cubase 11. My guitar signal splits in two, in the Radial J48 DI box. A balanced out from the DI sends the clean guitar signal to my Golden Age Pre73 preamp. From there it is fed to a Mytek converter, and finally to my soundcard, the Presonus Studio. The "thru" output of the DI goes to my pedals, from there to my Orange Pedal Baby power amp and from there it is converted to a line signal through the Suhr Reactive Load loadbox. The line signal is sent via a balanced cable to a Grace Design M102 preamp, which then again sends it to the Mytek converter and the soundcard. In the box, the tone is completed with the use of IRs from Ownhammer, Celestion and ML Soundlab. If the customer needs a different tone afterwards, the clean signal is reamped and different pedals are used. Of course, different IRs can lead to a huge variety of the initial tone. Finally, I own boutique plugins by Brainworx, Waves, Elysia and other leading companies in the market.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: Josh Smith, Joe Bonamassa, Kirk Fletcher, Matt Schofield, Chris Cain, Greg Koch, Eric Gales, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I provide rhythm and lead guitar tracks, riffs and fills for their songs. Also I teach blues and rock guitar.
