Interview with mixedbybh
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked with HUGEL, a DJ that I admire a lot. He needed some mixed vocals for the remix of the song "Beautiful Girls". I was very happy with the result
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I'm mixing a song for my friend. He is a great producer. We are working together in this song :)
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I vow to provide you a high-quality mix that you will like.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I'm just good at mixing and mastering. My musical styles range from pop to R&B, hip hop to trap.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Whatever you require, I will provide a competent service with a short turnaround time.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My computer, mixing heaphone, audio interface, smartphone and waves plugins installed.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been a professional mixing engineer since the age of 20. I am currently 27.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My personal style is current Hip Hop music. The top 40. I try to make music that is both catchy and commercially successful.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: So many different styles to choose from. There isn't a lot of heavy metal. Pop, R&B, Hip Hop and EDM are the most popular genres.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I've spent much of my life as a professional mixing engineer. So I'd say my biggest skill is my ability to mix and master. But I believe I have a strong knack for many aspects of music making.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I provide a professional mix and master that distinguishes your music from the competition. I can also apply any effects on you instrumental, your vocals, or your mix. I can also tune any voices you require tuned, using Auto Tune for the T-Pain sound or Melodyne for a more subtle, genuine effect.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Izotope, Melodyne, UAD Interface, Waves Plugins
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Jaycen Joshue, Dave Pensado, Manny Marroquin
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mix and Master
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: If you're looking for a drummer, I highly recommend Tom DuPree III. He does some incredible work.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have their applications. In most circumstances, an analog sounding unit can't be beat, but they aren't always simple to come by. If you use the correct digital plug-in, you can speed up a procedure while simultaneously getting a similar outcome.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: My profession is in the music business. Everything about it appeals to me. If I had to pick a favorite thing, I guess it would be being a part of the creative process.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: When do you think you'll be able to get this to me? That is my response. "When do you need it by?" I prefer to complete tasks as quickly as possible. It's good for me to turn jobs around faster, and it's good for the client to get things back on time. Having said that, I don't like rushing anything without putting in the necessary time and effort. I want my customers to return again and again.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: It would have to be based on the information they give me.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd like to collaborate with Justin Bieber. He is really excellent, in my opinion.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The most crucial lesson I've learned is to make sure your room is soundproof. Your room is lying to your ears if it is not treated.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Depending on the nature of the assignment, I will carefully listen to the client's requirements and respond in a professional manner.
