Interview with Zak Sipe
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing & Mastering
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What songs have you been listening to in your car lately?
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: It took me a while, but aside from all the gear I'm probably most proud of the actual room and acoustics themselves. They really lend themselves to give me an accurate picture of what's really going on in any given mix or recording so that I can use my ears to properly apply any gear the song's telling me it needs.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Working with great people and having the opportunity to make a sonic impact on the world
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: "Just making things louder". Well, yeah that's part of it, but a wise dude once said it's not how loud you make it, but how you make it loud!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Clean & organic
Q: What do you bring to a song?
