I'm here to provide a masterful male vocal track to your music project. Vocals can make or break your project, so it's important that you get it right. I'm here to assure that your song is complete with a crisp-sounding vocal track. I can also craft lyrics, mix, and produce beats for you.
Justin Ortiz, better known in the music world as Zitro, has been expanding the musical palate of the New York music scene for the past decade. The Bronx-based singer, songwriter, and producer creates songs that are as diverse as his upbringing, mixing R&B, pop, soul, and other musical genres to create a style and voice all his own.
His music is influenced by the vast array of musical knowledge he commands and his lived experiences, and is inspired by the likes of Prince, Michael Jackson, Seal, and Lenny Kravitz. Zitro’s songs offer personal, down-to-earth lyrics and narratives in addition to varied, complex rhythms, as his inspiration and creativity is deeply rooted in his own personal history and life experiences. Never one to shy away from the experimental and new, Zitro finds creative ways to interweave found sounds, stripped-down textures, and a rhythmic groove to create an entirely new and unique sonic experience for his listeners.
Zitro is as active in the studio as he is out in the community. In just under a decade, he’s self-released three EPs and five albums, and the hard work doesn’t stop there. He is currently signed with the independent record label Rodney Records as of late March 2021.

Amazing lead vocalist. He originally sang backup for my previous project. This time we worked on lead vocals. He really brought the energy my track needed. Well done !

Zitro has provided background ad libs and harmony to my pop rock EP that I'm releasing next summer. No complaints whatsoever. 5 STARS !

He provided a hot vocal track for my brother’s house remix. The genre’s certainly blended well as I hoped and I’m happy at how it came out. Hope to do another one! :)
Interview with Zitro
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: A mixture of all my music tastes, old and modern. Riffing vocals and beats that rock the soul.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Timbaland and Arca are my favorite producers. I'd love to see what they'd do with my vocal or song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I try to get my ideas on tape and then later play them when I'm at my desk so that they flow out and come to life.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Musicians like Prince and Lenny Kravitz greatly inspire me, seeing them work on their craft entirely by themselves in their home studios.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I will give my absolute 100% and more!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People assume that I sing for the wrong reasons other than the fact that music keeps me going in every possible way.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I would hope a producer isn't too repetitive. It's good to remove and add things every few bars to keep the listener engaged.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Sometimes they ask for lead or background vocals, or both. I give it a few takes and comp the best ones, edit it together and send it back in a few days.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I loved working on this rock song "Celebrate", and it was my first pop rock song that is published in my name. I've always wanted to work on that genre and hope to do it again!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Rory Hope was the reason why I signed up for SoundBetter. Great singer!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I believe you can value both aspects.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: As of 7/2/2021, I'm working on my sixth album, and simultaneously, a video from that album.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: It depends on what I'm feeling at the moment of when inspiration struck. Sometimes it's a House day, the next time could be a dark ballad, or even a throwback sounding R&B song.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest would have to be mixing and producing. I have a good ear for matching exactly what a song or sound is supposed to sound like.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As much emotion and meaning as possible, and making sure it rubs off onto the audience. It's the most important thing.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Very simple setup, but also very effective to my needs and the needs of my collaborators / clients. Samsung C01U Condenser Mic, Akai MPK midi keyboard, and the Reason 6-8.
