Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more; sometimes the simplest ideas are what make a song stand out. You have to enjoy the process because all the pleasure of making music will be transmitted to the people who listen to the song.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work a lot with rock and rock fusions, lately I've worked with pop ballads and metal, but I've also had the opportunity to work with Latin rhythms and pop music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strength lies in mixing, and within mixing, my strength lies in the rhythmic foundation of the song. For me, it's the lifeblood of the production, and the sound of the drums or beat is what really stands out in my work.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always strive to give my work an analog yet modern character, aiming to provide the warmth and punch of old productions along with the clarity of modern ones.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I work with the "Top Down Mixing" technique, starting with the most general aspects and then getting more specific. This technique replicates a bit how things are done in a studio with analog equipment, where you have to get the most out of the gear you have, work a lot with parallel processing, and make everything cohesive.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My setup is based on my Mac, and I work entirely "in the box". I have everything I need to deliver top-notch material, and I use a lot of analog emulations because, for me, they're the key to achieving that punchy, powerful, and crystal-clear sound.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm greatly inspired by listening to and appreciating modern and old mixes, searching for that something that makes them special, and trying to bring that magic into my own productions. I listen to a lot of metal and nu-metal, artists like Limp Bizkit, Gojira, Korn, as well as some older bands like Metallica, Guns N Roses, ACDC, some more modern like The Strokes, Green Day, among many others.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Commonly, my work has been mixing and live sound, and I have also worked as a recording engineer and studio director.
