EXCELLENT WORK !!! The fact that the financier of these projects are not allowed to verbally communicate with the hire, tells me that this company is not understanding of a producer's role, nor the ability to bring the absolute best to a project. All of this considered, this artist executed an exception task. Thank you Shanise.

Shanise was an absolute pleasure to work with!! I asked her to write and record a chorus for a song I was working on and she absolutely knocked it out of the park! An undeniable talent no question! And the voice of an angel!! Definitely recommend truly professional and would want to work with her again down the line!!
I could not have asked for a better vocalist for my new track "Juice". Shanise was so easy to communicate my ideas with and it made the creativity flow seamlessly. she quickly laid down the main vocals, stacks, and harmonies that created a full sound, rich textures and an infectious vibe. Will be returning whenever I need a catchy chorus!
Interview with Shanise
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: A current project I am working on is an EP that will be a recording of the first batch of songs I ever wrote. I am already proud of it and can't wait to share it with the world.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! I absolutely love the warm buttery sound achieved by analog but appreciate the ease and grace of digital recording.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will enhance the sound and energy that you already have going for your song.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Customers most commonly ask me if I can create vocal layers or more simple melodic runs (oo's and aah's) to add to their music and my answer is always YES! This is my specialty.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Sometimes calling myself a singer songwriter doesn't do justice to what I am capable of. I am very meticulous about achieving a finished product that is not only interesting but is polished and enjoyable.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Chorus/Hooks and Songwriting (melody, lyrics, harmonies)
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Recording my first EP.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It gives me energy to do what I do. To be creative is the most natural thing a human can do, and this is why my job doesn't feel like a job at all.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What inspired your song?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Nord piano 5, amp, acoustic guitar, a singing bowl and a bathing suit.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to sit alone, with headphones on and listen to the track a few times. I'll start to hear ideas and hum them out loud. Sometimes lyrics come to me right away, sometimes lyrics come through after I write a melody. I like to record what comes to mind right off the bat and expand on that idea. I don't settle unless what I've written hits the spot. Once I'm satisfied I'll record vocals, as many takes as are necessary and piece together the best takes. My brother is a producer who does mixing so I'll usually get him to step in and finish off the mixing process for me otherwise I'll leave the raw vocal takes.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a room in my house that is the dedicated studio. I record using an AudioTechnica2020 microphone and pop filter in a closet that seconds as the sound booth. The microphone connects to a Steinburg2022 interface and I edit vocals on a computer using Fl Studio, audio technica headphones and Yamaha HS8 monitors.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been singing and writing music since I was little, I started at age 7. I haven't walked straight down the musical path, although I did a lot of musical theatre and some performing in high school. After high school and stepping into the "real world" I started to take on various jobs such as serving, and teaching yoga. I'm 24 now and I've quit all those jobs to focus on creating. I am also a vocal coach.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I am very professional, and I communicate with clarity and precision.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: It depends on the energy of the song, but I usually bring a gentle, soft, smooth vibe. My specialty is runs and harmonies. I always like my vocals and layers to sound as clean as possible.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I'm here to work with you. The most important thing is to have an idea of what kind of energy you're going for with the song and to know that anything is possible.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I listen to a lot of r&b, soul and pop, and my style is a blend between those three genres. Think 90's Hip-Hop chorus.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Jacob Collier. His workflow and intricate ideas keep music so fresh. When he features other artists on his track, the sound is always perfectly tailored so well to that artists sound and style. Being very detail oriented, I can appreciate an artist who pays such close attention to detail.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't worry about the final product, take it one idea at a time.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: R&B, Pop, Soul, Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Cleo Sol, Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, Frank Ocean and many more.
