Interview with Camilo Carrero

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: Music like many other arts is about contrasts, light dark, up, down, open, closed, creating and solving problems (feelings in music). For this reason I like music with technological tools, the possibilities of sound are infinite to be able to create an instrument basically from anything, a drop of water or a thunder, the sound of clothes or the finest and most undreamed of timbres of instruments.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: I usually work in synthesized genres and sound experimentation, but another part of my life is dedicated to training new generations of musicians/producers and for this reason we are always creating projects related to quickly landing ideas and studying their possibilities, an additional stage in my creative life is music for audiovisuals (mappings for street events and festivals) I love the idea of being able to add sound to the image and make it more expressive, or also be able to make an auditory version of the documentary or video work, I also work for brands demonstrating their new products and material for the networks where the interested party can see the operation of some tools. Finally, I am a live musician by nature and I really enjoy going to play my own music with my machines and synthesizers. it is the summary of all my activities and visions. the creation of live technological music in real time, wooo, the feeling is second to none....

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: The strongest ability of each person is knowing their limits, when you know where not to go and the reasons why you don't, you can have fun in the rest even if you have never done something like what they ask you. In music, this applies to being aware of the complexity of certain musical styles and their problems, but also to the hunger that we cannot lose to experiment and stay up to date with the sound of the market and new influences.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: My personal vision of music is the enjoyment of melodies and rhythms in large and contrasting environments, I like to feel the spaces and that they contribute to the creative process, although each project is unique in its nature.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: The understanding of the main concept is the starting point of any good musical project. From there, we can start working on ideas, sounds and styles, taking into account references and possibilities of the material.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: My studio is a workshop where I teach music production and for this reason it changes, depending on the needs it is assembled in one way or another, everything revolves around the instruments and machines depending on whether we are putting on a show, we are recording a voice or processing synthesizers.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: David Bowie, Lennon/Mccartney, Stephan Bodzin and some many

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: - Realization of musical concept - Initial idea or work on the client's idea - Creation of arrangements and selection of instruments - RAW Mix
