I’ve been working in the industry since my first record deal at 18, contributing to high-profile, commercially released Pop and R&B projects, including two gold-certified records. Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I love most about my job is simply the singing and creating with very kind and sensitive creative souls that most artists are. :)
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Rhodes, Little Martin Guitar, iPhone for voice notes, a beautiful notebook, and a pen!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing music professionally since I was 18. I was signed straight out of high school and have never looked back! :)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my vocal style as dreamy, soft, breathy, and airy, or strong, passionate, and poppy!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Hip-Hop, Indie-Pop, and EDM!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I'd like to think I have a unique vocal sound, very good intonation, and I can implement changes and feedback very quickly!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Depends on what is asked. :) I can give you layers and layers of airy and soft-breathy vocal arrangements that you can use more as a production element, or I can sing a strong and confident lead vocal. I love to write, and I also play various instruments such as piano, saxophone, clarinet, and guitar, in case you spontaneously need anything else.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I first like to take at least 30 minutes to just vibe to the song to get in the right head- and bodyspace. Then, I like to start with a lot of BGV and harmony suggestions. I like to do this so that by the time I'm doing lead vocals, I'm really 100% in tune with the song. :)
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work from my own studio in the heart of Berlin. I record with Logic X but can also quickly adjust to ProTools. I like using a Neumann TLM 103 as my standard condenser microphone, which complements my vocal sound. I also have other condenser microphones for different sounds, like an Amethyst Vintage, which I really love. I record in a vocal booth and love my Apollo Twin interface. :)
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a big fan of more performance-art based musicians like Chappell Roan orLady Gaga! :) But I also feel very drawn to more soft and airy voices like Aaliyah, Billie Eilish or my latest obsession: November Ultra!
