A Canadian drummer/producer, who's been fortunate enough to share the stage & work with with a few cool people such as... Juno nominated & Multi-Platinum selling recording artist "Jamie Fine" (formerly apart of duo Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine), CTV's "The Launch" Season 2 winner "Olivia Lunny" & upcoming R&B artist "JYDN HILL" to name a few..

Fun fact.. My initials spell "drum"..no they really do lol. Darius Reuben Uriah Martin - DRUM...see? Anyways, all of that to say, my start with drums, literally started in the womb. I took a natural and organic liking and eventually obsession, with rhythm & percussion. I grew up in church playing a lot of gospel music, a genre that encompasses a multitude of genres and drumming styles.

Being fortunate to enough to have grown up playing a variety of music styles, it's allowed me to be diverse and flexible as a professional both on stage and off stage. Ive always taken pride in my efforts to maintain a consistent work ethic, that only reflects my best across the board. If you do decide to hire me, I can guarantee you only my best and & a job well done. I want to be apart of your journey in anyway I can & look forward to connecting!

Interview with Darius Martin

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: Having a passion for both instrumentation as well as melody and the lyrical composition of the music, I feel I bring a lot of diversity and creativity to a song.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: That all depends on the task at hand. If I'm working on a beat for example, I tend to listen to music within the realm of what I'm aiming to create & more importantly never ever overthink anything. I gave myself the space to create first and once I'm happy with the idea, I turn my focus to the arrangement and flow of the song. My process is never limited to any specific routine in any way.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: So... I work out of two main studio's... The first studio is a basement studio that I use for music production & programming. We have have Apollo FireWire 18x24 (w/ every possible plugin you could think of lol), A pair of Kali Audio Speakers & Sub, A full isolated vocal booth that contains a Slate Digital ML-1 microphone & Pop-Up-Shot Basketball Arcade game, which is really the highlight of it all aha. The live studio I work out of contain my 5 piece PDP Concept Maple kit, Zildjian Cymbals, Remo Drumheads, DW Hardware & Roland Electronics. I use SE Electronic mic's to capture all my audio, running into another Apollo Rack Interface and Pro-Tools as my live DAW of choice.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: That's a lengthy list...to name a few, Devon "Stixx' Taylor is a major influence on not just my drumming style but my approach to music as whole. Another big musical influence of mine on the production side would be Timbaland. His sound is so distinct and unique and being a drummer, I appreciate the creative rhythms and patterns he comes up with.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Due to the ongoing pandemic we're all doing our best to manage, session recordings, beatmaking & song production are the most common types of work presently.
