Hello friend! I’m an engineer and musician with nearly 15 years of professional experience in mixing, production and session work…and a ton of editing. My goal is simple, make your tracks sound professional. My specialty is in mixing but with my background I’m able to offer much more.
Take a listen to my Before/After player to hear the difference I can make to your next project!
My strengths are in Rock, Pop, EDM, Hip-Hop and Metal.
I started off 30 years recording the bands I was in growing up. About 15 years ago I began a successful studio where I professionally recorded and mixed close to 1,000 songs for local independent artists. I further developed as a mixing engineer by working along side talented engineers such as Jim Wirt (Hoobastank, Live, Something Corporate) and Mike Ferretti (Sevendust, Saliva, Thank You Scientist).
Along the way, I toured as a guitarist in multiple bands opening up for acts such as Trapt, Spacehog, Sevendust, Spin Doctors, Taproot and Bobaflex. I’ve done live mixing for bands such as Underoath, Attack! Attack!, Asking Alexandria, and Mina Caputo. I’ve also scored several documentaries including the upcoming film about the creator of Teddy Ruxpin titled: "Ken Forsse: Come Dream with Me Tonight". You can find me on IMDB.com as “Will Lewis (V)”. Last but not least, I have over 2 hours of original music under the artist name “PhantasmaPhonic”.
My profession is my passion and that is working with people on the music they love!

Interview with Will Lewis
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always do your very best to capture the highest quality source material over everything else.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I actually am switching to just about entirely digital these days. I had some really nice top end stuff and honestly at the end of the day, no one cares what you use or what your process is, all that matters is your final product. It's not the tool, it's the person behind the tool that matters.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That we will make your music sound next level or I will simply give you your money back. I don't want my clients to ever worry.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Working with people on what they love. It really means a lot to me on a personal level. You are creating something that represents you in a way that can only be expressed through a song, and we are archiving that moment forever.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What is your turnaround time? Which is 2-7 days in most cases.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is it that you looking to improve in your music?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't agonize over picking the right engineer. If you dig their reel and their vibe from reading their SoundBetter profile, hit them up. Worst thing that'll happen is you have a conversation with someone who loves music as much as you.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Assuming they have electricity... A laptop, an interface, a pair of headphones, a mic and a guitar.. Crap, I forgot the cables.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Professionally, I've been at it for nearly 15 years. My path started 30 years ago at 11 years old when I figured out how to multi-track. I did this by using a walkman, a tape deck and a Y-cable. I would record guitar into the tape deck, then play that tape from the walkman into the Y-cable while recording another guitar part over it. I would rotate these tapes over and over stacking more and more tracks. I've been chasing that high ever since.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: It's about vibe for me, both in personality and music. You're hiring me for more than just an end product, but for an experience. How you feel as we take your music to the next level means a great deal to me as a professional.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Trippie Redd because for some reason I love that dudes music fr fr.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock and Hip-Hop some sort of EDM influence.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Mixing!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My experience. Being able to hear a song and know what it needs to take it to the next level and heaving the expertise to take it there.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I first speak with the client to understand what their needs are and what I can do to help improve their music. Once expectations have been set, I commit to working towards our goals until they are met.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: The list would be too long. Outside of the names I already mentioned, I get a lot of inspiration from modern music. MGK, Trippie Redd, Young Blood, I really love the sound these artists are creating.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing and production work. Either mixing tracks from an artist/band or working with them directly to produce their sound from the ground up.
