My name is Ruben Castro , I am a Los Angeles based Mixing Engineer and I want to help you get the sound you've always wanted. Started as an assistant engineer for Grammy Winning Producer Latroit, in Los Angeles and eventually had my first opportunity to co-mix Inner City's "We All Move Together" ft. Idris Elba.
In 2021, I started from the ground up at Record Plant Recording Studios, as a runner. During that time, I learned all about recording and using an SSL console. I worked my way up to assist in a few sessions with artists such as: Lil Bibby.
Today, I am an assistant engineer/engineer at Just For The Record in Los Angeles. Some sessions include: Khalid, Zara Larsson, Danja, Maria Isabel, Parkwood Ent.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am very proud of a project I did for PopSockets. I produced, mixed and mastered the 2021 Ad.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently wrapping up a big Synch commercial for an upcoming Padel company as well as assisting engineering at Just For The Record.

A: Bad recordings can't be fixed!

A: Work with people that truly believe in your art.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started djing years ago and I found myself touring around Mexico. I had the opportunity of opening for Marshmello. I started as an assistant engineer for grammy winning producer Latroit, in Los Angeles and eventually had my first opportunity to co-mix Inner City's "We All Move Together" ft. Idris Elba. A: Communication is key, assertive , organized, efficient. Mix style : Loud, punchy, clear.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with J Balvin. He is a major inspiration to me.

A: Pick the right samples!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on EDM, Reggeaeton, Latin, Pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Attention to detail, communication, finisher.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I make it sound like a record. I love bringing out elements that you didn't hear were there. I love making choruses hit.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Depends on the project , deadlines and needs of the client. Usually we schedule a call , listen to the record & figure out a game plan. We talk about what your needs are and how can get there. After I receive stems, I check to see if any stems are mixing and I get to work. I'll do many passes before sending the first pass.

A: Currently rocking MB3-X's, Apollo 8xp, Apollo x16, Lynx Hilo, D.W. Fearn VT-5.
