Shelly on SoundBetter

I am a British, well experienced singer who has worked with seasoned industry professionals such as Sefi Carmel. I am always looking to bring people's creative visions to life whilst also adding the right amount of emotion and personality for a unique finish. My style varies with the wide range of interesting artists I have worked with.

Over the past decade I have worked on exciting projects with numerous international companies such as Supercell games, Wizart Animation, Soundtrack Creation, as well as many talented independent artists from various cities around the world. I have my own professional set up (Neumann U87 microphone and Avalon 737 tube preamp) and my promise to you is a quick turn around and friendly prices. I am committed to customer satisfaction, offering unlimited feed back and revisions. I am experienced in singing both lead and backing vocals.

Interview with Shelly

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I had the pleasure of singing on the score of the original motion picture score Rebelious, which was released in over 100 countries.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: My debut album

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Sefi Carmel, Yoad Nevo

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital has made the music-making process more accessible, allowing for freer artistic expression in a wider group of people. Analog still remains pertinant to the creation of quality music production, especially in the input chain, where having a superb analog chain is extremely important

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: Inspired, mix ready vocals, professionally recorded and delivered promptly.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Realising my lifelong dream of pursuing a career within the music industry.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Customers want to ensure that there is a musical and personal connection, often asking if I have understood their vision. My response to this an eager curiosity and receptivity in an attempt to accomplish a shared creative vision.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That it's easy.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I always like to ask about their individual musical journey and the artistic intentions and goals behind the project we will be collaborating on.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Make sure you connect artistically and personally with the person you chose to fulfil your creative vision.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: I would take my laptop (with Logic), my faithful Neumann U87, my beautiful Avalon 737 tube preamp, my trusted Sennheiser headphones and my Fender electro-acoustic guitar

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I come from a very musical family; my grandfather played strings for the Beatles and my father is a successful Sound Engineer/Music Producer, so you could say I grew up in the studio. I started working professionally from a young age and have been delivering professional vocals for seven years.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Contemporary, Alternative, South-London Pop/Rock

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would like to work with Lucy Dacus as she is one of my all-time favourite musicians and lyricists. I have already had the honour of joining her on stage for her tour in 2025 and would love the opportunity to continue th emusical conversation

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Creating a musical shorthand and joint creative ownership of the project, so that all those involved can be proud of it is the most important part of any musical project

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I have worked on a wide range of musical styles from Contemporary Pop to Film Scores to Indie Rock.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My ability to transform the universal experience into the artist's deeply personal world, providing an authentic London sound using my individual voice.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: A powerful and thoughtful vocal with attention to detail and musicality. As a current Goldsmiths Music student, I have a deep theoretical background to compliment my years of studio experience

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Upon receiving the brief and necessary materials, my first port of call is to understand the artist's vision and influences, working closely with the artist to execute their vision. I promptly and meticulously address and the music, aiming to deliver mix ready vocals within 3 to 5 days.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Neumann U87 microphone and Avalon 737 tube preamp

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: The musicians who most profoundly influence my vocal delivery style are Florence + The Machine, Lucy Dacus, CMAT, Hayley Williams and Siouxsie Souixe
