Interview with Jordan Jones

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: For writing and recording vocals and guitar I'm working out of my home studio, running Logic Pro X through my MacBook Pro and recording in through a focusrite Scarlett 2i2. For recording live drum tracks I work out of radioactive studios in Portsmouth.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: I'm inspired by so many different musicians in different areas. From a lyrical songwriting perspective I love: John Mayer, Death Cab For Cutie and Frank Turner. The drummers who first inspired me were hard heavy hitters like Dave Grohl, Atom Willard and Travis Barker and while I still love that style, in recent years I've found a new love for more rhythmic players like Steve Jordan and The Root's Questlove.

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: Mostly I try to communicate with the client to help them achieve what they want from my services, whether that's a certain feel or inspiration for the lyrics or guitar/drum parts for songs.

  7. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  8. A: Playing in my band Friday Night Firefight after we just released our debut album 'Invisible Kids'

  9. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  10. A: Sam Ray, he's an incredibly talented songwriter and producer and working with him Is always a pleasure.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: Mostly Pop and Rock, of all the music phases I've been through in my life these two were always a constant.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: Speak to the client, find out what sort of direction they want the song to go in and then try to bring that to life.
