Hayley Brooke on SoundBetter

Hayley Brooke is a versatile and experienced singer-songwriter with roots in the Broadway stage. Her rich storytelling abilities bring life to every aspect of her music, from her powerful vocals to her compelling melodies and lyrics.

I'm a singer-songwriter based in New York City with extensive experience as a vocalist and performer. My career began in productions like Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway and the Broadway National Tour of Shrek the Musical and has evolved into a music career. I've honed my songwriting craft at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music and the Los Angeles Academy for Artists & Music Production.

Influenced by the emotive, powerful voices of artists like Renée Rapp, Adele, and Olivia Rodrigo, I specialize in Pop, EDM, and contemporary ballads, but I’m always excited to explore new genres. As an artist, I strive to create with authenticity, openness, and a deep sense of truth - bringing both vulnerability and excitement to the projects I take on.

I'm passionate about collaborating with other talented creatives, and I'm thrilled to be part of the SoundBetter community. If you’re looking for a versatile artist to bring your ideas to life, feel free to reach out, and let's make something amazing together!

I dare you to find a song that Hayley won’t elevate with her amazing, one-in-a-million voice. Having had the pleasure of producing a song with Hayley, she brought supreme musicality to the track, delivering an alternating mix of tender, emotive phrasing and soaring power – always at the right moments. Can’t recommend Hayley highly enough and excited to work with her again.

Hayley has such a powerful, amazing voice; one of the most talented vocalists and songwriters I've ever worked with! She has great work ethic and instincts when it comes to music.

Interview with Hayley Brooke

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I just graduated from college in May, and I've been writing songs since high school. I've been pursuing it professionally for a couple years because it gives me such catharsis to use music as an outlet for my emotions and feelings. And I've loved singing since I came out of the womb. I'm also an actress and am pursuing that alongside music!

  3. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  4. A: I bring my singing voice, which has a powerful and emotive quality as well as versatility. I also bring my songwriting skills. I am very skilled at speedwriting and can write well under tight deadlines. I have a particularly good ear for strong melodies and utilize my background as a creative writer and poet to craft strong lyricism.

  5. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  6. A: My recent single "Love Of My Life". I put my all into it because it really reflects who I am as an artist and my mission to help others and make them feel seen and loved. The song bring a new perspective to a common phrase, and I love that part about it. I also made a music video with an incredible group of filmmakers that I'm so proud of.

  7. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  8. A: I'm working on a new single and music video for it. Also some collaborative songs with different writers and producers.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: Digital because it's the modern age and we have to do things quickly and concisely.

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: I will put my all and my whole heart into what we create. Each project will be special and unlike any others.

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: The beauty of creating and finishing a song. It's the most amazing feeling when you listen to the incredible sounds your blood, sweat, and tears can create.

  15. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  16. A: Why music is so important to me. It's given me an escape from my own hardships and anxieties, and I hope I can share songs that help others with their challenges as well.

  17. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  18. A: That it's all fun and games. It's really great but also hard and unstable to make a living as an artist.

  19. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  20. A: What is your vision for this project? It's important to understand so you don't get lost in the weeds of things and miss out on the goal of the song.

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Find someone you connect with on a personal level as well as on a professional one. If you have a good synergy with someone, the song will be so much better!

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: Great question! Definitely my microphone and pop filter. Also, my recording headphones, my keyboard of course, and my isolation booth.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My musical style is pretty pop heavy with hints of musical theatre. I would describe myself as a storyteller, and I would describe my sound as authentic and unique.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Olivia Rodrigo because I have loved her music for a while. She seems like she'd be so fun to hang out with too, and we're both obsessed with purple and have attended the University of Southern California in some capacity.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Trust your gut when you're picking between vocal takes. The take that initially sticks with you is most likely the best one to go with.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I typically work on pop music (ballads or upbeat) or EDM but am open to other genres as well. I also have an extensive musical theatre background.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Either my vocals or my melodies.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: For vocals, I will record the lead vocals first. Once the leads are added to the mix, I'll record background vocals and ad libs.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I have an isolation booth, a good condenser microphone, and a pop filter.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: I'm very inspired by Chappell Roan because of her work ethic, as she is proof that if you put in the time and dedication to your craft, you will find success. She is also incredibly authentic which is so refreshing to see in the entertainment industry.

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: I typically do vocals and top line for tracks. I enjoy collaboration and want to make sure the person I'm working with is very happy with the product.
