Interview with cocainium

  1. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  2. A: Sampling. Last months sampling some vintage songs became for me like giving respect to old beat production. Also like to sample post-rock guitars with their speedy tremolos

  3. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  4. A: This is a too common question. I trying to bring a dynamic, to transfer my mood or on the contrary, to create a unique pic that likes for you.

  5. Q: What's your typical work process?

  6. A: Typical work process is following: when i get order (to cook a beat, to mix or master song), i begin to make something like a technical task. Asking about references while mixing, about synths, instruments when it goes to individual beat. Then make a demo mix or beat to show how it`s going. Listening feedback or requirements what to add or what to remove. And after that making a final mix or beat.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: Now i have a portable setup, that consists of laptop, focusrite solo 2nd gen, beyerdynamic DT990 250 ohm. Also planning upgrade it by byuing ADAM T5V monitors.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: First artists that inspired on me were in a long childhood. There were Scooter, 50 Cent, Eminem, Sum 41, Bullet For My Valentine. Now i can`t definetly say about artist who influenced on me. There a lot of good undetected music that can blow industry or ears in a good meaning :) So, i listen everyrhing that sounds well and non-typical.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I think the most common type of work is more mixing, than producing. And i don`t know why is that, usually my collegues talking about this :D Cooking beats makes me fell myself more open, i fell myself more alive. When artist noticed my work and offers to work together, this feeling is unspeakable feeling. I already catching a workflow in this.
