I take songs from a basic demo and create radio ready productions and mixes. I also write original songs in all different genres and can create a song specifically tailored to a particular artist's style.
I am a music theater school graduate from Oklahoma City University. I play piano, guitar, and bass, and learned to produce and mix my own songs. I can write a song or create a production for your original song from scratch. I create a rough mix as a part of my production, but also offer a specialized mixing service if you want to take your song to the next level. If you are in NYC, I record all clients through my gear at Funkadelic Studios for a consistent, professional vocal sound.

Interview with Chris Heron
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: All types of pop - electric, rock, indie, you name it. I also work with singer songwriters who want a more acoustic vibe.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I am a singer and songwriter first and foremost, so I really excel at maintaining the emotional core of a song even as I create dense and interesting arrangements.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to talk with the artist about their song, what inspired it, the emotional journey, the musical influences, and anything else the artist wants me to know. Then I create a basic arrangement, run it by the artist, and lay down the vocals once everything is in place. Afterwards I do final overdubs/edits and mix the project. I typically will also provide a rough master in addition to the final mix.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio with an Apollo Twin where I lay down guitar, bass, and key tracks, and I go to Funkadelic Studios in NYC to record vocals and necessary drums.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I really like pop acts that blend genres, as well as great songwriters - Bleachers, Ariana Grande, Panic!, Taylor Swift and Phoebe Bridgers are all acts I look up to.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I fully arrange and produce songs for my clients - this includes playing/programming all the parts and recording the vocals with the artist.
