Experienced music professional with a background in AAA game audio & library/production music.
I've been working professionally for 25 years as a composer, producer & mix engineer. I've composed soundtracks for Nintendo & Xbox Game Studios and mixed and engineered music by several other composers and musicians in the industry.
For the past 10 years I've worked freelance in library & production music from my acoustically treated studio in rural Leicestershire.
I've also produced numerous backing tracks for YouTube cover artists such as J-Fla, where I've completely re arranged the original track to avoid take-downs etc.
I'm friendly and easy to work with - I'll bend over backwards to get your music exactly how you want it it to sound.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I composed part of the soundtrack for Nintendo's 'Perfect Dark' and I still get emails from fans of the music I did for it.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I've just put out a remix album of an old game soundtrack I worked on, and now I'm composing a hybrid orchestral album for a production music library.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I don't care, but it's nice to have some real instruments in there somewhere...
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I'll give you 100% of my time and attention and that I put the same amount of effort into every customers project, no matter their standing or ability.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That Pro Tools does everything for me!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Trust me. If you've come to me for my experience, and my taste, and you like my overall sound, then let me work.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My father was a musician. After the usual childhood piano lessons etc, I joined an Indie rock band which was semi successful throughout the 90s. I became a full time pro musician in1999 as a composer for Rare. I've been freelance since 2012.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Upfront, punchy. I don't use a lot of reverb.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Get your ideas down as quickly as possible and trust your muse - don't spend hours choosing a hi hat sound, before you've even written the part. Don't waste time tuning backing vocals only to later decide you don't want the backing vocals!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Indie Rock, Hybrid Orchestral
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My experience and my taste.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I don't mix as I compose. Mixing is a totally separate process for me, and my rough compositions are generally a world away from the finished piece.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in 100% in Pro Tools.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Brian Wilson, Trent Reznor, Billy Corgan
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mostly writing/composition, but frequently I'm asked to take a piece from a basic idea up to a full production.
