
Professional Sound Engineer & Composer with extensive broadcast and studio experience at Al Jazeera, Qatar TV, and Katara Studios. Expertise in mixing, mastering, sound design, and music composition, with a proven track record in film scores and sonic identities for leading international platforms such as AJ360, Atheer Platform, Syria Now, etc.
Gerard Baladad is a Sound Engineer and Composer with international experience in broadcast, studio, and live performance. He holds a BA (Hons) in Music Production and Sound Engineering from Middlesex University, London, in collaboration with Point Blank Music School, graduating with First-Class Honours (Distinction). He is also Avid Pro Tools certified and is expected to complete his MA in Music Production and Sound Engineering at Falmouth University in partnership with dBs Institute.
Gerard trained under Grammy-winning engineers during his internship at Katara Studios, where he worked with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in world-class studios and concert halls. He later joined Qatar Television as a sound engineer and broadcast mixer, handling news, game shows, interviews, and talk shows.
Currently, he works at Al Jazeera Media Network’s Digital Division, providing services in sound design, editing, mixing, mastering, recording, and composition. He has created sonic identities for over 10 shows at Al Jazeera and continues to deliver impactful audio for global media.
A multi-instrumentalist (drums, guitar, piano, bass), Gerard has also performed live, including as keyboardist for Brazilian artist Luciana Maya at FIFA Fan Zone concerts. His film work includes scoring Dear Bassey, a short film that won multiple awards at the Los Angeles International Film Festival.
