I am a man on a mission to inspire creativity by modeling the truth in my soul. Music is truth, music is breath and what ever I put my fingers on will sound the way you envision in your head.
I specialize in the art of listening and creating compelling musical productions. I have been playing music for nearly 20 years and I have been audio engineering for over 10 years now. Through the years and experience I have managed to carve my way through the scene and shift my focus from live performance to feeling more and more at home in the studio.
I have a home studio where I offer recording, mixing and production services. Whether you need me to engineer your session, mix your track or be your producer I am waiting to work with you!

Have work with Rory on several occasions with production and mixing extremely talented and very easy to work with and gives the artist a great sound and mix , highly recommended!
Great engineer! Working with Rory has been a very pleasant experience. He’s knowledgeable, professional, and consistent making him a well rounded engineer. His rates are reasonable and there is no vision he can not assist you with. If your looking to get some bang for your buck and work with a quality musician Rory is your guy.
Working with Rory at his and his brother's studio is always a good time. He has takes when I ask for his input that I feel always add to my songs and give them layers making them 3-demensional, alot of times, when I already thought they were. They are extremely talented musicians, so you can add professional level instrumentals to your music at a moments notice and the espresso they pour in between sets can't be beat.
Rory is an incredible human being and the most intuitive producer we have ever worked with, his attention to detail is far beyond the scope of many. We plan on working with Rory through out our career.
He is without a doubt an audio Genuis.
Highly recommended.Andy Browne

Interview with Rory Landt
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am especially proud of this latest production with Lynx Deluxe. This band features many old school local legends and it was a honor to work with such talented people.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I have just finished producing a full length album for Lynx Deluxe
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Khari Brown
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both because they are both excellent mediums.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise I will do whatever it takes to give you the product you are looking for.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love working with people and putting my stamp on their music.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Mixing is not the same as producing. Production is an overall picture and way audio is captured and implemented. Mixing is the act of balancing the production.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are your goals and expectations with your music? Do you believe in your product?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be open and ready. We have so much we can learn from each other. Let us all accept that we know nothing ;)
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Kick drum, snare drum, upright bass, acoustic guitar and piano
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started learning how to record in 2005 or 2006. Back then I had no idea that it would become something more than just a hobby. Now all these years later is a huge part of my life and my career.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is organic and edgy
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Steven Wilson! I love his productions and I would just love to be a fly on the wall.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: My number one tip is to get it right on the way in.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I come from a rock/metal background but I am a lover of all genres. I am eager to work on any project, especially if its a genre I have less experience with. I love to be a little bit outside of my comfort zone, it keeps the juices flowing and the ears perceptive.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is execution.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring ears and experience. I am obsessed with listening to music. I hear the subtle nuances that you aren't necessarily looking for or even aware of. That is why having a producer can be so valuable. It is crucial to have a fresh unbiased perspective on your music.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process is always changing and I am always trying something new. That is the most important part of music. Pushing your self to a different dimension every time you pick up and instrument or turn on a piece of gear. So for me I have a consistent work flow that I tend to live by while always keeping an open mind and fresh perspective on what ever project i am working on.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a small home studio with full band production capabilities. The Yamaha Birch Custom drum set is always ready to go with my standard microphone array. The gear list is getting bigger and bigger every day. I mix in a hybrid fashion incorporating traditional analog equipment with modern digital based plug in's.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Steve Albini, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Sylvia Massey, too many to list LOL
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am most commonly either engineering a session or mixing songs. However as a producer I take on a responsibility with your project. I become an honorary band member for you. I am that extra perspective that you need to push you towards your highest potential and production.
