I specialize in jazzy RnB, hip hop & pop. 20+ years. You'll get a dedicated flautist; not a doubler. My cover of "Regulate" was featured in XXL Magazine & retweeted by Warren G. My releases are often featured on top RnB/Soul Music site SoulTracks.com I've received accolades from Felix Snow (Terror Jr.), Maxwell, Dawn Robinson (En Vogue) etc.
I've released 2 full-length albums, 2 EPs, and 10 stand-alone singles. A few of which hit the Amazon best sellers list.
I have a degree in jazz flute performance.
I'm great at riding your track with short digestible melodic phrases. My solos tell a story while keeping a melodic sensibility the average listener can understand.
Below are some reviews on my solo albums:
His compositions and beats are both really strong. Beautiful flute performance on really good quality pop music.
– Tom Coyne, Mastering Engineer (Michael Jackson, Ne-Yo, Sade, Beyoncé)
His fresh, funky take on an instrument that isn’t always either of those things has made us a fan. He has single-handedly
turned the flute into a legitimate soulful instrument, and has deservedly gotten big time attention in the process.
– Soul Tracks.com
He has a really lyrical way of playing that instrument, not quite like anyone else.
– James Tormé
Probably the dopest flautist in the game right now!
— Jamal Ahmed, WCLK (Atlanta)
There are only a few flautists out there, and Jef really stands above the crowd.
– TheJazzWorld.com
Not merely an instrumental album, Jazzy AF sees the artist mixing genres and creating a new sound. Kearns’ command of the instrument is unmistakable.
