Interview with Andrew Galucki
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work most on folk, indie pop, rock, singer/songwriter and country projects. I also have experience working with CCM, Rock, EDM and Pop.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: After tracking on over 600 songs, I've found the 'sweet spots' in every part of my range. So you'll receive an interesting and emotive vocal performance from top to finish.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: After reading over any notes from the client and setting up the session, I like to get the song "in my head" before tracking by listening over a few times and becoming familiar with where the song's emotive journey goes. From there, I'll start singing along to find the right emotive presentation of my voice for the track. Most often, I'll then record the lead vocal and send for feedback before finishing the track. Once I hear back, I complete any backing or harmony vocals.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: For most vocal sessions, I have a SM7B running through my Apollo Twin. Through the UAD's hardwired plugins inside the Apollo, I run most vocals through a Neve 1073 with very subtle compression from an LA-2A or 1176 to help make sure the dry vocal I send already has some classic character to it.
