Harry Drake on SoundBetter

1st Class Honours degree holder in Popular Music Performance (Guitar). 15 years + playing experience across numerous genres including Pop, Rock, R&B/Soul & Singer/Songwriter.

I am a professional guitarist from the UK, currently based in London. I have the means to record professional quality guitar recordings for your project from home, specifically tailored to your needs. If you have any chord sheets please do send them through. If you haven't thought of any parts yet, please send any rough ideas or references and I will create parts to the best of my ability that suit your genre and your vision.

When we are working on a project, I'd love to be part of your band for that time, so let's discuss the parts like we're playing together in person.

If you have multiple projects, please let me know and we can work out a deal.

I have worked on projects with various artists in different genres but typically specialise in Pop, Rock & Singer/songwriter styles.

I also have experience arranging for strings and writing songs (particularly music & lyrics for singer/songwriter genre).

Please get in touch and let's discuss how I can help you with your project!

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Harry is a fantastic strings arranger. He worked together with me on arranging the strings for my song, "We Tried", which ended up reaching #4 in Capital and Heart's Big Top 40 Christmas Countdown and #1 on iTunes. Harry is collaborative, receptive to feedback, and has great creative ideas. I would really recommend him to anyone wanting strings arranged for their song!

Interview with Harry Drake

  1. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  2. A: Probably John Mayer or Ed Sheeran. Ed for his writing, and John to just experience his playing.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: Always get the best sound you can before recording, if you are recording an amp. It's best to record a sound you are truly happy with, rather than fix it all in post.

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: Rock, pop, and singer/songwriter

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: Feel. I have always taken great care in the feel of my playing, and writing parts that fit in the pocket. I've learnt it's just important to take note of what you don't play, than just what you do.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: Authenticity. My own guitar style that fits the genre of the artist's project.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Jake Gosling, Dan Bastille, James Bay, Lewis Capaldi, Joel Peat.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: Guitar parts, specifically tailored to the needs of their project.

  15. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  16. A: String arrangement for "We Try" by Louise Harris. It got to no.2 on the capital radio charts at Christmas 2023.

  17. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  18. A: My own projects, aiming for a new produced song each month.

  19. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  20. A: Mark Corradetti. Incredible professional bassist.

  21. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  22. A: Both. It depends what the project requires. I record digitally mainly.

  23. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  24. A: Always professional, and recording the parts that I feel best suit your vision.

  25. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  26. A: The creativity. Nothing is ever the same.
