Interview with Vale Peñaranda

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love that collaboration is key. Getting to know each other’s mindsets, creativity, and unique points of view helps me expand my perspective on the project we’re working on. For me, it’s a privilege to write, produce, record, and listen to other talented people — I always learn something from every collaboration.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I would say my strongest skill is my versatility. I combine technical expertise with creative vision, which allows me to handle every stage of a project — from songwriting and arranging to recording, editing, and mixing.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio, in which I craft the entire process of writing a song, creating the arrangement, programming, recording (piano, guitars, bass, vocals) and working on post-production. I also have access to a professional studio, which I use for recording drums, string orchestras or acoustic pianos.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m inspired by Max Martin for his ability to produce and write songs that are both catchy and timeless. I admire the work he’s done with artists like Dua Lipa, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande — some of my favorite artists. I’m also inspired by Jacob Collier, whose innovative approach to arrangement, harmony, and production pushes me to experiment and think creatively about every detail in a track.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I do for clients is music production and vocal production. I help artists bring their songs to life — from initial ideas or demos to fully arranged, polished tracks. This includes arranging instruments, guiding vocal performances, tuning, editing, and mixing to create industry-ready results.
