Composer, Songwriter & Keyboard player Greg Mate after 2 years of classical piano lessons was promptly kicked out at the age of 10 wanting to play the drums instead - never did.
20 years later he got his first used Casio keyboard from a good friend. “I had lent him a hockey helmet, which he’d worn out, so since he didn’t play the keyboard he traded me his keyboard. "
Mate’s debut EP, Nothing Is As Short As Never (February 2022) introduces a soft rock sound through various versions of a power ballad by the same name. Mate also has no less than 3 more EPs on the way, showcasing his diversity in genres including Pop, ‘80s Pop, & Orchestral Pop tracks.
When asked what he wants to accomplish with his music, he says “I want to write music that means something to me, & hopefully others can relate to and enjoy.”
The Sync world fascinates him as well, & he is working to share his songs through licensing to help others tell their stories.
Mate loves collaborating with other musicians. “As a team player I play well with others”
His positivity & creativity are set to challenge the status quo and help listeners find hope in a world that can sometimes feel hopeless. And with the quality and breadth of genres that his music offers, there will surely be something in Greg Mate’s growing catalog for everyone.
Mate's dedication to music = live performance, studio record

Interview with Greg Mate
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The music. I have listened to music all day long, and I want to do that every day.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: 10+ years playing the keys, 2 years of songwriting.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Easy going, hardworking, dedicated.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Record everything!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I don't want to write sad songs, but I do. I want to write upbeat rock but I haven't. My second EP coming out March-ish 2022 will be mostly (3 out of 4 songs) happy. I'm working on an 80's EP.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I can frequently play a few notes on my keyboard and the music starts to flow.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I'm a team player that enjoys learning and sharing. I'm creative - good thing eh? - and am able to look at things from a different angle.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I tend to write music before the lyrics. Then the music tells me what words to write, usually based on a theme I have in mind. I have a bunch of song titles, like everyone else I'm sure.
