Interview with Amo Audio - Lewis Amoroso

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m especially proud of a Garage Pop track I produced that was featured in an Adidas advert and nominated for two awards at different ceremonies. I fully produced and mixed the track before delivering it to Sony Extreme.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now, I’m working on a variety of modern pop-driven productions. These projects inspire me because I get to create fresh and modern music that’s frequently placed on TV channels and ads worldwide.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: I love the creative journey, but the most satisfying part is delivering the finished product and seeing a happy client at the end.

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: I’d love to know what music you’re currently listening to, as well as hear some of your tracks. It’s important for me to understand both the music and a bit about you as an artist.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: My style in music production is all about adaptability. I focus on understanding each artist’s vision and creating an environment where their creative flair can truly shine. My role is to guide and enhance that vision, helping it flow freely while elevating the overall sound.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: One essential production tip I swear by is the 'rear bus' technique, popularized by Andrew Scheps. It’s great for making vocals stand out and cut through the mix, especially in vocal-driven productions.

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: My strongest skill is the ability to interpret a client’s vision and quickly bring it to life while maintaining the creative flow of the project.

  15. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  16. A: My studio is a compact yet professional space located by the sea in Brighton. I’ve designed and built all of the acoustic treatment myself, ensuring the space is optimized for the best possible sound and creative flow.

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: I'm constantly inspired by innovative artists in current Pop music, like Billie Eilish, FKA Twigs, and Sevdaliza. Their unique production styles and experimental mixes push me to think creatively and constantly strive to elevate my own work.

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: The most common type of work I do for clients is mixing and mastering, with a focus on a wide range of genres, though Pop is most frequent. I aim to be an invisible force behind the music, allowing the artist's unique character and vision to shine through. My role is to enhance their sound, ensuring the final track is polished while staying true to their style and energy.
