I am an Animator & Designer with experience working with agencies, musicians and brands. I love creating hand-drawn animated visuals.
Hi, my name is Lucie! I have always been passionate about art and drawing. With my love of illustration, I began teaching myself hand drawn animation techniques just a few years ago. Since then, I have been commissioned to animate tour projection visuals, music videos, GIFs, animated logo designs and album art. I have worked with several different musicians including Portugal. The Man, Kari Faux, Reignwolf and more.
I love experimenting with styles and textures while finding the right fit for your sound. I also dabble in TouchDesigner and know my way around After Effects and Premiere, so feel free to hit me with some out of the box ideas. I will send process updates to ensure you'll love the finished product.

Interview with Lucie Mullen
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2018 with a BA in Graphic Design. I have been teaching myself animation skills for about 4 years. I am going to be studying Live Experience Design at Berklee in NYC this Fall, 2021, and am excited to cultivate more animation techniques.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is illustrative, vibrant, organic, and sometimes kaleidoscopic. I like to experiment and grow with my art all the time.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring to life the story, feeling and or emotions to the songs that I am privileged to work on. I love collaborating with musicians on idea generation to ensure the animation fits the style they had in mind while creating the song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by quickly sketching out rough ideas onto paper and refining them into one concept. Then I create a few full frames for starting points as reference for the rest of the animation process. I also like to roughly sketch out a timeline before committing to the full animation and aesthetic.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My mac, my sketchpad, my ipad and my apple pencil. (plus, my cat, coffee, and tunes)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I general create hand drawn frame by frame animations for clients looking for music videos, GIFs, logo animations and social media posts.
