Top 20 Mixing & Mastering for your project. Hey, I’m Ian Carter and I've been mixing and mastering music for over 20 years, from underground artist bedroom projects to major label Top 20 albums. My workflow is a hybrid of valve outboard & cutting-edge DAW software, using powerful UAD plugins and my expertise to achieve excellent results for you.

Cutting my teeth doing vocal sessions with RnB artists back in the day, I built my reputation as a mix engineer alongside being an artist. As the main creator and producer behind Various Production (XL Recordings) - a pioneering dubstep/grime/electronic act of the early 2000s - I was intrinsic to shaping the UK underground beats sound. Always innovating, often hybridising genres, up until the present day with experimental roots band Stick In The Wheel; EAN, my beats artist alias, and the beat tape project GOALS.

I’ve been lucky enough to work with some great artists, recently including mastering Karine Polwart's UK Top 20 album Scottish Songbook, as well as Jon1st, Olugbenga Adelekan (Metronomy), Ghostpoet, and folk icon Martin Carthy.

I run my own record label with a roster of repeat clients, including music for picture at Nowness, Noods Radio, and previously KPM and National Geographic.

From Major label projects, to underground beats, I understand and care deeply about helping artists produce their music to the highest standard. No project is too small or production too big.
