40 years experience playing electric and acoustic guitar, bass guitar, live drum sample tracks, basic piano/synth parts, recording, and mixing.
Let me help you finish your song and take it to a higher level! I can add instruments(acoustic/electric guitar, electric bass, piano, synth, strings), live drum tracks, or produce. ALL styles! I can also help you write chord changes for a song or create a bridge or solo section for your existing song. Please listen to my entire compilation. It contains many tones and textures that I think you'll appreciate. Mastering your mixed stereo track also available.
I will add an extra bonus track or 2 if requested at no charge. Check my current body of work on YouTube @

Interview with Kevin M. Smith
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My on material which is now on all streaming formats.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Producing a group of songs for an outside client. And when I say "producing", I mean arranging, playing multiple instruments, mixing the songs for them.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: No.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. I find it the quickest way to deliver parts back to the customer and it is a compact setup.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That they will be satisfied with what I send them.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Playing music and mixing/producing as a "job" is my dream. I'm living it.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: If i'd like to work on another project with them. The answer is always YES!!!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I may be limited to only certain musical styles.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What mood are you looking for? Any specific styles that you are wanting to hear? What is your songs bpm?(lol)
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communication is important to me, and will get you the best possible results. I'm a good listener and can interpret most clients needs.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Acoustic guitars, a Djembe, and 3 more acoustic guitars!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out playing guitar in high school with buddies, went on a young adult playing in cover bands, all styles for decades. I've been playing music for over 40 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is chameleon. After decades of playing music that spans a wide variety of genres', I have heard it all and am confident about playing many, many styles. Hard rock, funk, country, some jazz, oldies.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Sting. Because of his high attention to detail, musical prowess, songwriting genius, and sense of melody.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Make every instrument stand out and have it's own voice. Layers without masking.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I don't want to pigeonhole myself and adore all styles of music, but my strongest areas are classic rock, folk, Americana, country, classic motown.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Providing alternative parts so the client has choices and doesn't need to contact me for revisions, which I am also not opposed to.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Fresh ideas that follow a classic line of musical flavors that will enhance the songs melody and mood. Also, keeping it simple and tasteful is important. I usually sent more than is required by the client so they can pick and choose the bits they want and have choices.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to the client's song, work out the arrangement(learning the chord progression), listening for special spots so what I perform fits and follows the songs narrative.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work completely in the box, recording with the Reaper DAW, JBL 3 studio monitors, Focusrite interface. It's a simple yet effective layout, allowing for a quick work turnaround.
