Raffaello Columbro on SoundBetter

Mixing, Mastering Engineer and Producer with over two decades of Studio experience and Sound Engineer Teacher.

I'm an experienced audio engineer with over two decades of expertise in mixing, mastering, editing and producing.
In addition to working with a wide range of artists and genres, from Urban to Classical Music, in a full equiped studio, I also teach audio engineering at the Conservatory of Naples, blending technical precision with a deep understanding of the art of sound.

My goal is to provide high quality to your tracks and make them sound like they deserve.
I can Mix, Master or create a Beat for you.

Terms:
- Fast delivery, usually 3 to 5 business days for the first revision of the mix
- I usually finish the mix in two or three revisions, but I'll be happy to keep going until you're satisfied.
- Possibility to follow the session live via Audiomovers and Zoom meeting.
- After the final mix revision, we'll move on to mastering, which will only take one day. You'll always receive both a mixed version and a mixed and mastered version.
- Open to discounts if you need to finalize more than two tracks at time.

Interview with Raffaello Columbro

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Hybrid! Why choose only one?

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: I started 20 years ago as a recording studio assistant, then as a Pro Tools operator, and eventually as a sound engineer. I trained at the Conservatory, and my journey has been enriched by extensive live experience. Today, I run my own mixing studio and teach at the Conservatory of Naples.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: I’m very careful to leave the right space for the key elements of the mix. For me, listening to a track should be an enjoyable experience, and I won’t stop working until I achieve that goal.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: First, I ensure the quality of the audio files sent to me. Then, after setting up the project, I handle the gain staging and finally proceed with the actual mixing.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: I've an hybrid setup. Protools based, with UAD, Waves and Lexicon plugin; but I use an analogue Midas consolle with some external hardware like some Spring Reverb, a Roland Space Echo. For monitors I choose Adam Audio and Dynaudio speakers.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: Rupert Neve, Glyn Johns, Geoff Emerick and Foffo Bianchi

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I can edit, tune, mix and master audio tracks
