Interview with Andrea Ghisalberti

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Hybrid, analog outboards integrated with plugins and digital control/recording

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: Shadow Hills Mastering compressor, DBX 160SL and Manley Massive Passive for sure. The other two might be an Universal Audio series X rack interface and my mac mini, so i can record, mix and master just in case.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: don't be afraid to use long-decay reverbs, just pay attention not to wet too much the entire mix.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: I like to work on electronic music, 'cause I find it more challenging than other genres, but if you come to me with a rock single I'll love to mix it either way.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: Critical listening in non-optimal conditions
