Dean Dichoso on SoundBetter

Producer, mixer and songwriter with 30+ years of record-making experience. Credits include Candlebox, FeFe Dobson, Family Force 5, Mika Kobayashi and Jackie Cruz.

I’m a producer, mixer and songwriter with 30+ years of record-making experience. My work moves between roots-based music, alternative and heavy music, and left-of-center pop and R&B, often borrowing freely between those worlds to find the sound that belongs to the artist.

My credits include Candlebox, FeFe Dobson, Family Force 5, Mika Kobayashi and Jackie Cruz.

I work across songwriting, pre-production, arrangement, tracking, vocal production, additional instrumentation, full production and mixing. My approach starts with understanding who the artist is, what brought them to the record and how they want it to feel. From there, I make the musical and technical decisions that support that identity.

I care equally about the experience of making the record. Artists should feel listened to, comfortable and excited by what they’re hearing from the beginning—not like they’re being processed through a production factory.

As a multi-instrumentalist, I can be as hands-on as a project requires.

Based in Nashville, I work with artists throughout the U.S. and internationally, with active clients in the UK and Europe. Travel and extended recording periods abroad are a normal part of my work when a project calls for it.
