Hi, I'm Rocket! I am a Nashville, TN based musician and engineer. I want to help you sound amazing! I play drums, bass, keys, and sing background vocals. I tune vocals in addition to editing and mixing audio. Outside of the studio, I've played drums all over America in clubs, arenas, stadiums and more. I bring all of this experience into the studio

I have worked with Aaron from Rocket Productions many times over the years both on stage and in the studios here around Nashville. Aaron is a timely, intuitive player, backing vocalist and producer. I find him very easy to play bass with in live settings and extremely easy to work with in the studio!

Interview with Aaron Rocket

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Digital, but with an analog mindset. With my Universal Audio Apollos, I love that I can quickly switch back and forth between Neve or API preamps, a Studer tape machine in seconds. And the recall is simple. Just as easily, I can commit eq, compression and effects on the audio into Pro Tools. It's such an efficient workflow.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: To deliver professional results.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: The flexibility and creative freedom.

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: What feeling are you trying to convey in your music? What artists and/or songs have inspired your project?

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: A Macbook Pro, a Universal Audio Apollo 8p, an sE Electronics drum mic pack, my 70s Ludwig kit with Paiste cymbals, and my original Shure SM7.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: I've been playing drums and piano from a young age. I moved to Nashville in 2011 and studied audio engineering. Ever since, I've been working in the studio and performing live.

  13. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  14. A: Michael McDonald. He's one of the greatest male vocalists, and I love his songs. It would be a dream to play with him in any capacity.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: Remember the big picture: it's about the song and the singer.

  17. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  18. A: Country, rock, pop, R&B and worship.

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: Drumming and audio engineering.

  21. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  22. A: Aside from musical proficiency, I try to humbly play what I think is appropriate for the song. I want my playing to be confident, but ultimately I want the client to be the one that's shining. I'm quite experienced as an audio engineer as well, so I guarantee that my tracks will be professional and polished.

  23. Q: What's your typical work process?

  24. A: Before I add anything to a song, I like to listen to it several times to get it into my soul and be a part of the same vision the artist is going for. At that point, I record a couple takes until I feel happy with my own performance. I then do any needed editing or cleanup, then send a rough mix to the client for feedback. Once the client is happy, I send them the files.

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: I mostly work out of my home studio, fitted with several drum kits, a Fender bass, many percussion and programming sounds. I record through Universal Audio Apollos.

  27. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  28. A: Toto, Steely Dan, Phil Collins, Michael Mcdonald, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Kansas, Yes, Queen, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Earth, Wind & Fire, Brooks & Dunn, Dawes, Eagles, Genesis, Huey Lewis & The News, James Taylor, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Daft Punk, Rush, System of a Down, Vulfpeck, Keith Urban, Chris McHugh, Shannon Forrest, John Mayer, Steve Jordan, Nathan East, Leland Sklar, Steve Gadd, Chad Smith,

  29. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  30. A: Drums and percussion, bass, keys, background vocals, track editing, vocal tuning, and mixing.
