I am a 'one-stop production shop' for singer songwriters. I offer full instrumental production for your songs - arranged, played and mixed ready for mastering and release. I am also a session bass player and guitarist with decades of recording and live experience.
I play bass, drums, guitar, piano and I sing. I produce, arrange & record tracks at Balintore Studios. You can send me the vocal and a guide track and I will arrange and record all the instruments and produce the track for you, mixed and ready for mastering and release.
I can also provide session bass as well as acoustic/electric guitars for your tracks.
I have worked for over 20 years both in the studio and live with Barry Adamson, Laika, Mark Fry, Jake Morley, Mally Harpaz, Sally Barker and many more.

Interview with Iain Ross
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I like to talk to someone before we start on a project and really try to get a sense and feel of what it is they want
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Collaborative
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to work with the singer/songwriter and get a sense of what they want from the song. Then I use their vocal and start to build the track to suit the song from there.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen to what the artist wants and try to serve the song
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Singer/songwriter
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I play all of the instruments that I add to an arrangement and I think I have a good feel for what a song may need in order to bring it to life. I love collaboration and always strive to ensure that the artists i work with get what they want from the production.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have many years of experience working with so many different artists - live and in the studio. I play bass, drums, guitar and piano so I am a 'one man band' in terms of working in the studio. I am always happy if the 'client' is happy and I am always keen to bring to the song whatever it needs.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use Logic Pro X with a Focusrite interface, Rode & Sure mics, amp and fender amps and too many guitars and basses to list!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Too many to list! I enjoy working with anyone who is passionate about their music and I love the process of collaboration.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: As a producer for singer/songwriters, I arrange, record and mix the backing track for their song. I play guitar, bass, piano and program natural sounding drum tracks as well as providing backing vocals where required.
