Elca has a beautiful, passionate, strong, and harmonious singing voice! I met Elca in college and the first time l heard her sing, l was amazingly startled! Her voice is a magnificent gift. Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My musical style is similar to gospel artist, Tamela Mann. With the humms, runs, yeahs she likes to do when singing and the confidence she brings when she is passionate and is feeling the words to the song she is singing. One of my favorite songs from her is "Take Me To The King." My all time favorite song is by GMWA Women of Worship, called "Order My Steps in Your Word." And my favorite hymns are "How Great Thou Art," "Great is Thy Faithfulness," and "The Blood that Jesus Shed for Me."
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to bring you quality work and communicate well with you while answering all your questions. I'm a woman of my word. If I say I will do something, I do my best to keep or follow through with my promises. I am a trustworthy and reliable person. And I will complete your musical projects while making it SoundBetter!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I'm currently in the career path of Applied Behavior Analysis. However, from the year 2014-2015, I've decided to go beyond proficiency with my singing to excelling in it by taking vocal coaching classes. It has helped me tremendously in exploring my natural vocal range while hitting those high notes at ease by learning correct breathing techniques and various vocal excercises to prep before singing. Although I've been singing since age of 7, these lessons increased my expertise in singing and I can definitely use my knowledge and musical talent to help others with their musical projects on this platform.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would take my microphone with me first...gotta have my microphone as someone who enjoys singing! Then I'd take my speaker box, cell phone (to connect to bluetooth and musical apps), wireless charger, and headphones. I guess that's what I call my gears, lol.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Singing is my passion and gift, so when I get to work on a musical project, it brings me joy to do something I really love to do while helping others at the same time. 1 Peter 4:10 says, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on Christian Gospel, Inspirational, and Wedding songs.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I've worked on several special music video projects for local churches while they were closed during the pandemic and were streaming online only. I love helping people...and to be able to help the churches out freely during the pandemic was a blessing. This is what encouraged me to use my singing talent more widely, and by using this platform I'll be able to bless and help others around the world on their musical projects.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: First and foremost God inspires me the most. Then I can say any musical professionals that inspires me are gospel artists, Tamela Mann and Cece Winans. They not only sing beautifully, but they both portray to have a beautiful and humble soul which is a plus to my inspiration.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have microphones with good recording sounds and good speakers. These microphones include a "live" recording microphone and also an AKG condenser "studio" recording microphone with pop filter and mic isolation shield. I also have a Focusrite audio interface to record my vocals (on GarageBand) and a professional headphone to connect to it.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for a provider who has a serving heart for others, can understand your needs, makes collaborating efforts, is flexible, and can give you quality work.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I work a full-time day job Mon-Friday in the Applied Behavior Analyst field (Psychology). Then I have all late afternoons and all evenings, including weekends to work on any musical projects.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strong skill is taking an original song and adding a unique harmony or melody to some parts of the song.
